Kas thought she was quick on her feet, quicker with her mind. A troublemaker as much as she was a solver of riddles. Yet her efforts to remain concealed while she studied the people here came to an abrupt end. A stranger came upon her — brown like dirt but light too, reminding Kaszandra of a riverbank during a drought.

The woman said a name which Kas had heard before — Rivenwood. She had thought the riverside had been such a place, but after following the gray girl back here, some clarity was brought to her attention.

It ain't much to look at. She answered the stranger, eyeing the trees and the rising cliffs on either side. The girl couldn't decide if she was lying or not. She drew further from the older woman while her ears twisted to every sound, in case of an ambush.
