The hailstorm ended as abruptly as it had started, leaving the forest floor littered with little chunks of ice. Momentarily forgetting her stomachache, the juvenile slunk slowly out of the den to take a closer look. That was enough to upset her tummy and, before she knew it, Junior was planting her forepaws against the wet earth and arching her neck as vomit came rushing up her throat. The episode lasted for about three heaves before her muscles calmed and, spitting the acrid taste from her mouth, the youth retreated from the puddle of sick.

With a muted groan, she backed up against a nearby tree, mindless of its wet bark as she leaned against it. Her mouth tasted awful but at least her stomach felt a bit better. Junior wondered if the nausea would return or if she'd exorcised the demon, so to speak. In any event, the drops of water that fell off the leaves overhead felt cool on her suddenly warm brow and she closed her eyes with a sigh.
