She lifted a paw and motioned rather crazily, indicating that Tytonidae should give her a good thump on the back. At the same time, she tried to follow her sibling's desperate advice.

She forced herself to cough. In the process, she sucked in a deep breath and the berries dislodged from her throat, only to take a tumble further down the wrong pipe. That didn't feel good at all, though at least Junior could breathe again.

"Dear god, that was not fun," she panted. "No more berries for me," she added indignantly. Fortunately, she'd saved herself from an immediate bout of diarrhea, though Junior wouldn't entirely escape discomfort; soon she would be suffering from a pretty gnarly bellyache.
