The world Donnie had come to know became new to him again, and while it was tumultuous and confusing, comfort came swiftly. Breath was drawn into new lungs, and his heart fluttered happily to learn what it was to breathe. Warmth engulfed him, as his father knowingly drew him near, alongside soft, wriggling siblings. 

He drank, he murmured, and he learned what it was to dream, now in the dawn of the life he would lead on his own.
