The bird-girl was amusing herself, ironically, with a seabird feather - chasing, catching, shaking. Oh, what fun! She was reluctant to leave her new toy when Mother's familiar voiced resounded, ears folding back momentarily as she got in that one. Last. Shake! Ok, better go!
Tail and ears held high, little Puffin trotted merrily over to Mother. What was going on now-? OH. OH, WELL...
Puffin recoiled a bit, lifting a forepaw in a display of uncertainty, tail drooping. She smacked her lips in confused dismay, a bit of a grimace scrunching her tiny maw. Tigerlily eyes widened in shock - horror, even, as Brother... devoured. The. Mess.
What was going on? And why did her own stomach growl? She was simultaneously concerned, revolted, and hungry. She plopped onto her rump, fighting the tears of confusion that welled in her eyes.
