He was pleased that the swarthy female had accepted his apology, but as his muzzle was downward once more, rolling the pheasant to her in another attempt of a peace offering, he froze as the next words came from her mouth. Blinking up, he slowly lifted his head once more, chilled by the sincerity she voiced this opinion.

Apparently, according to her, he was Alpha, and so he could be as much of a dick as he wanted and she should simply accept that.

“No,” he began slowly, his tail giving a quick sweep through the air. “It does not work like that in the ranks of the Creek.” There was a small pause, his jaw tightening as he contemplated how to explain. “Ranks are to be respected, yes,” he agreed quietly, shifting his weight then. “But power is not to be abused in this pack.”
