Luhtar's ears flicked at her gesture, and he tilted his head slightly to glance at the stomach she indicated.

“Most do,” he smiled in agreement. “Not me.” He leaned forward, sniffing at the carcass before stepping around it. “Too slick. You take if want.”

The deer was a good kill, but the stomach wasn’t what he craved tonight. His growling stomach pulled him toward the haunches, where the meat was dense and the bones thick with marrow. That’s what would sit heavy in his belly, something worth the effort. Luhtar lowered his head, teeth flashing as he tore into the hindquarter.

“Good hunter eats what he needs,” he muttered between bites, not looking up.
