The laugh received an irritated snort, but Needle wasn’t dumb enough to turn her back on the stranger. This snowstone annoyance would either need to leave of her own accord or be chased away, but the girl was under no delusions that she would be capable of making this lady do anything, let alone run.

Luckily, the enviable wildstar gave Needle the opening she needed to get her on her way without force.

That way, she answered without hesitation, gesturing in a direction so random that it’s definite point could be left up to the reader’s interpretation. We went around a pack back that way. It was a confident lie, but it also gave away key information: namely that she wasn’t as alone as she appeared.
