Fox's Glade Hair of the dog

The fox's shrill cries were piercing to his ears, but Persia didn't loose his grasp on the scavenger's tail. Everyone made mistakes here and there; not everyone paid with their lives. Maybe the fox wouldn't, either.

But he was pretty annoyed.

He yanked the creature back, releasing his grip as it went stumbling — then he seized it by the scruff, shaking it fiercely. Persia felt his heartbeat in his ears. For a moment he thought he might kill the fox, just to make a point to the rest of them.

Instead he dropped it, and watched it flee in a blur of red fur and redder blood and ragged squeals. That one, at least, wouldn't be back. Persia turned away, eager to get back to his meal.
