ishmira has been following the stranger for a time, struggling to conceal herself against the brush. on more than one occasion she is sure she has been seen, but her quarry moves on. it is for that reason that she assumed she was doing well. evidently not, as the man finally turns to face her with an unimpressed sneer. and then she is attacked, besieged by some awful manner of bird.

the girl cries out, throwing both paws over her face as the bird pecks her relentlessly. a sharp shake of her head and it is sent off. she shoots it a growl, hackles raised in trepidation.

“i was practicing, i’ll have you know.” she mutters indignantly, pride wounded. who is he to laugh at her misfortune?
