Much time had passed now. The children were born, they were growing quickly. Eyes were opening and legs were pushing to a stand.

Pala was yet to feel anything towards them. She did not feel the way she thought a mother should.

Rising to her feet, ignoring the squealing puppies as they felt their mother go, she moved to the den's exit almost unconciously. She would not go far - she needed a break, that was all.

The snow was melting away, trees showing signs of spring. Pala was sure the vale would be beautiful painted in green and coated in flowers, and yet her eyes settled over the mountaintops, mind drifting to @Treepie - her first friend outside of the vale. A major part of Pala wanted to see her again; it had been refreshing to speak to someone outside of Viskani's reach. Pala wanted to run to the mountain she promised, to visit for a day or two and bring gifts.

Glancing back to her den, she frowned. A strange sense of grief fell over her, and she failed to understand why that was.
