The Wraith staggered as Keshka’s fangs found their mark, pain flaring along his shoulder. A lesser wolf might have recoiled, but Astier absorbed the sting with little more than a sharp breath. His smirk did not fade; it merely sharpened, like a blade glinting in the frost.
He shifted his weight fluidly, rolling with the force of the strike rather than against it. His snarl was low and cutting, a calculated motion, swift and unrelenting, his fangs seeking purchase along her side. He did not hesitate, did not waver; yet the ache in his shoulder gnawed at him, a ghost of her mark that refused to be ignored. Still, he pressed on.
This was not a fight to surrender.
