as she gripped a piece of the carcass and braced against the earth, she felt the snow crunch and she sank elbow-deep in to the white. tugging, tugging, a little thrashing, a pause; it sounded as though something moved beyond her, and so she froze there with her teeth sunken in to the frozen flesh, listening.
