He felt his throat tighten when Treepie asked what had happened. He would never say it out loud, especially not to her, but some part of him blamed the spear wolves for how his mother died. Pala had never spoken poorly of them, never said what had happened, but Ludo had never been oblivious. He knew there had been tension, and he knew that his mother had felt pushed out.
