Somehow, the Alpha had missed the lunge for his own throat, else he would have fallen furiously upon the downed male and torn him to shreds. Instead, he paused, every nerve singing with tension as he stared down at the suddenly prostrate stranger.

"You have exactly five seconds to get the fuck out of my lands," Peregrine said in a low voice. Instinct held him back from attacking the injured, submitting male. "If you attempt to speak, I will tear out your throat," he added to make it clear he wasn't interested in verbal resolutions at this point. He punctuated his words with a savage growl and a lash of his tail.
