Peregrine helped bring down a lame white-tailed doe near the territory's edge. He stuffed himself to the gills, then promptly carried a severed leg up the slope to his mate. After making this special delivery, he trotted back down the mountainside, returning to the carcass. He set about caching the leftover meat, humming under his breath as he worked. They were having quite a bit of success with game lately and the timing really couldn't be better, with the Alphas' puppies on the way.

When he was finished storing the venison, the Alpha male sprawled in the snow beneath a pine tree at the base of the caldera. He wasn't sleepy, per se, but his body was tired and achy from the work. He stretched out on his side, his paws bracing against the rough bark of the pine tree's trunk, and let himself sink into the snowdrift a bit in the hopes that it would cool his warm, twitching muscles.
