Summer had made a good impression on Elwood and had described himself as a "dear friend," though now that Peregrine mentioned it, he wondered if there was a romantic link between the two. After all, Finley was Elwood's "dear friend," too.

"I liked him. He was a bit younger than me, I think, but very polite and straightforward. He seemed to have Tytonidae's best interest at heart, and he mentioned that he went to the plateau first. Lasher must have told him that you were here," Elwood said. "He didn't specifically say anything that sounded like they were an 'item,' but who knows."

He paused, then remembered something else that Summer had said. "You can meet him for yourself when the weather warms up, if you want. He offered a place for you to stay if you go to the Sunspire to see Tytonidae."
