The alpha had started the day with intents to mark the borders once more, but as he progressed, instead a whim led him to the borders nearest the plateau's edge, and it was here he remained, gazing contentedly out at the lands beneath. He had little reason not to be content, for though life had followed the same rhythms day in and day out, this was how the man loved it best. It was this peaceful sense of routine that made him feel that a home had been made here, and he clung to it, for he knew it couldn't last forever.

With his eyes held outward, he was unaware of any approach. Instead he focused on the movement of the birds in the distance, tiny specs that flitted across the sky. No other movement was visible aside from that of the wind, though at times this vantage provided a wonderful chance at sighting prey for future hunts. Currently the kill was far from his mind, and instead the enjoyment of the day was prevalent.
