The rest of the elk moved nervously, and while their prey attempted to follow, Elwood and Saena blocked her forward motion.

Instead, she started to amble away from the rest with a cry of distress. Elwood glanced over his shoulder and was pleased to see that the bull was paying more attention to the rest of his harem. So he began to snap his teeth at the female's ankles, driving her further from the group and at at faster pace. He wanted to tire her a bit if possible before attempting to bring her down, but the worry that was evident in her face was already taking its toll.
