Lots of dialogue here 'cause I'm exploring Perry's views on these things. He's gonna have a bad time trying to mesh some of these views with Hawkeye's, methinks. xD
Although Ariston's observation rubbed Peregrine the wrong way, causing the muscles in his jaw to tense, he let him finish speaking before saying, "Why is my pack mate even mingling with this 'pack next door'?" he refuted. "We are wolves; we do not associate with those outside of our pack on friendly terms. We are all inherently one another's competition. If my pack mate trespassed or did wrong against another pack, he deserves whatever punishment he gets. I'm not going to wage war on his behalf. And if a stranger trespasses on my lands, it's my right to execute him. It's not pretty but it's the way of the wild."
The more Ariston talked, the more Peregrine realized how much their ideals clashed. "I don't leave the pack land ever unless absolutely necessary. I don't view it as a cage, nor do I need to 'seek solace in neutral territories.' I am happy with my home, content to remain here at all times and defend it. I guess I just don't understand those who think it's normal to go adventuring all over the place, making nice with strangers. It goes against our very nature. And sleuths? Assassins? We are wild fucking wolves," he repeated, shaking his head, dark ears splaying.
Looking Ariston full in the face and trying to catch his eye, Peregrine said, "Do you see this tear in my nose? I got it when a she-wolf came too close to our borders. I beat the ever-living shit out of her and sent her on her way with her tail between her legs. Did I go after her beyond that? Did I drag her entire pack into war? Fuck no. That would blow everything out of proportion for starters and it would just be a moronic waste of time. My issue with her ended as soon as she fucked off to wherever she came from," the swarthy male finished with a slight bit of heat in his voice.
