Stay with me

The marbled fox had just sated his hunger, and was lying on the edge of the small meadow he shared with Autumn. He gave a small yawn, exposing rows of tiny glistening teeth. He closed his jaws with a snap, and looked with interest at a small finch looking down at him from a small tree. He smiled at it, and it chirped and flew away. He never ate birds. They didn't deserve to end up a snack. The were smart, and free, and optimistic. A bit like Autumn.

At the thought of her his smile grew, and his blue eyes grew warm.
