The bear sought @Arrowbella, he'd heard her timid voice and moved towards it; his jade gems bright against the decaying forest. His tan face showed through the darkness, pushing softly through the remaining evergreen foliage clinging for life to their branches. His eyes landed upon her dark form, her leg against her neck mid-scratch. He pushed forward, a shadow emerging with dark fur snagging on the twigs. He cast his gaze around the small clearing she rested in. It smelt of the sea wolf with an underlying sickness. He looked back to the female, his eyes scanning her features. Her crescent scar highlighting her bluer eye.

He moved forwards again before extending his muzzle out to her, inhaling deeply. She smelt of pain and sorrow, hardships had worn at this one. Kovertol drew himself closer, eyes staring into the girls before moving to examine the white markings.
Interesting.

He pulled back his muzzle -- initial inspection over -- and he sat back on his haunches, looking. Just looking. Silent and waiting for her to speak again.

She was more than confused of what this bear was doing. She had run into a bear before, while she was with her er, half mom. But this one didn't seem to be attacking her, so she spoke, but it was barely above a whisper.

"Ummm.... Hello? Are you um, looking..... For me?"

His head canted, not understanding her soft-spoken words. So instead he stared, waiting for something.
Until he got bored.

He rumbled softly, in the ursine tongue that he doubted the dark female to understand, "Give me your name, girl." If she understood, the shadow would be impressed, but didn't get his hopes up. He instead averted his gaze to the trees, watching small birds flit through them and ready for the winter; much like he should be doing. When he was satisfied with the wolf in front of him, he would go back to finishing his den.
If she didn't please the brute, he would be in a dark mood indeed.

She turned her head sideways in a confused glaze. When thought about the words he had just said. She didn't understand them, so she thought. She remembered her half mom speaking to her about bears.

"You must learn their language. It will be important. In fact, it is important."

"But mum, bears are our enemies."

She had cocked her head slightly and smiled.

"Not all will be. Slme, will effect your future."

Arrowbella smiled slightly at the memory, her head now faced upright. A sing!e tear filled her left eye and made its way down her cheek, slowly curving its path towards death. The words the bear spoke floated in her mind, slowly piecing together the once forgotten language she had been told to memorize, months ago before the accident.

"I'm am Arrowbella, but you may call me Arrow." This she grumbled in a voice close to the bears. After all, she was better deciphering than speaking. Even her own half mom would laugh at some of the translations she had tried to speak. She hoped the bear would understand.

He watched with curiosity, for her fetures seemed to flinch and contort at a memory before a wetness slip down her face, glistening like dew in frost. He stood to leave, the energy sad and slack around them, but before he took his first step, she spoke.

Her pronunciation was off by a long shot, and the ursine had to work hard to decipher what her message was, so he helped her at first by repeating for her, ”Arrowbella.” His jade eyes watched with the promise of teaching — and learning. This would be his gateway to learning the lupine tongue, even if just enough to be understood and to understand.

His maw spread, a rare action for him, and he smiled at Arrow, not the grin that struck fear, no, a smile of happiness.

She heard the bear speak, and could decipher Arrowbella. At this she nodded her head and tried again, straining to match the bears grumble. After this she sat, and the itch began to crawl once again up her side. She refused to accept its incoming, but began to move her shoulders in a dancing way.

He studied her movement, wondering what the roll of her shoulders was for. He knew wolves had many actions of body language, used to talk without words. But it didn’t convey all that one may want to say, therefore the ursine tongue was more widely used than acting alone.
His brows furrowed and the smile vanished altogether. He had the opportunity to talk to Cry, and the other wolves, properly; he wasn’t stupid enough to let this go. No, he made it his note to seek this girl when he awoke, and to learn what he needed to from her. ”Stay,” he commanded, hoping that his meaning would be acknowledged; he wanted her to stay the winter, for him.

"Stay?" She cocked her head to one side the itch beginning to grow again. She slightly lifted up her left leg and began to scratch, hoping the bear didn't notice.

 "Stay here?"

She stopped itching and placed her foot back down, looking all around her surroundings, which involved spinning in a circle. She stopped again in front of the bear.

"Ummm.... Ok, but what is umm.." She did one last overlook of the area " here? "

Then, realizing she didn't switch languages, she grumbled,

"Where IS here?"

His eyes watched her, thinking over her confusion; but what was there to be confused about? He wanted to stay in the forest, with Cry, until the spring. He huffed, a low and displeased sound, for he was not the most patient of creatures.

"This is Shadewood," he replied, his voice portraying his hard manner, "your home." He watched her intently, his jade gems inspecting her every movement as if he could read them; which he could not.

Her last statement perplexed him, his head tilting to show for she had spoken in the lupine tongue. He cast his gaze around, expecting to find the young skewbald wolf; but found no one.
They were alone.

She could sense his impatience like it was an onion leaf. In otherwords, she could obviously tell the bear was displeased with the rate of the conversation. so she tried to reply in a manner that didn't need that much explanation.

"Why did you want to speak to me?"

"So I know you," was his simple answer, for if he was to protect the woods, he would have to know the faces and scents of all who dwelled here. He flicked a short ear and lifted his paw to swipe his muzzle, ridding himself of a small itch, "if this is to be your home, I wish to not anger him, if I should make a mistake." His eyes gazed about, itching to return to his den-making.

Gods, there was much to still be done there. And he still needed food. He would have to explore out to find something.

The wolf simply nooded. For she knew what it meant to make a land angry. She had once made that very mistake.

Satisfied with the girl, the hulking shadow stood and started to leave, moving northward — and in the direction of his next meal. He cast no look back to see if the lupine-girl was following, and he honestly didn’t care. He needed to be alone and he needed to fill himself before he bed down for the winter.

His form left the small clearing, and he nae looked back. Before him, the world was going to become blanketed, and he knew when the snows came, he would leave. And he would only return when they left.
Grumbling quietly, not in negativity or positivity, he melted away like the shadow he was.
