Still young, yet, Draper traveled north. Or rather, he slinked north. He was, after all, a coyote. He knew his species wasn't well-liked among wolves, and already he could smell them here. Best to avoid them at all costs, unless they showed some kindness toward him. There were some like that, few and far between.
The Featherwind had grown up further south, where it was warmer, and he shivered in the cold of this place. He had come here because there was more opportunity for him. His homeland was crowded with those of his kind, and he hoped to find some relief further north. He could have headed toward the city, like many of is siblings had, but he hated the smell of them, the danger that came with living there. Speeding metal boxes, magic flying rocks that could cut through skin and bone. No, that wouldn't do. He needed to be far away from all that.
Onward he went, traveling slowly north.

Hecate was beginning to bore in the marsh, no one ever visited her little hut for some witchcraft anymore - they all seemed to have gone off somewhere since the earthquakes shook their worlds. Weaklings, pussies really, couldn't handle chewing on toads and other little delicacies from the marsh. Too afraid of what might be poisonous to even take a taste.
So onward she went, out of the marshes and into the wide-open - something. Really, leaving the marsh felt like nothing special, just brighter now that the lands were more open and not blocking the sun with twisted branches.
Though it took a few days, she had finally come into contact with someone else. A living, breathing coyote!

Hey! You!Trotting over, she didn't fear this new face, not one bit! Should he turn to be some kind of cruel dude all she had to do was work some magic, and a witch never feared death anyway! Death was only the beginning to a witch.

Hey! You! He had been hailed. He expected it to be a wolf, telling him to get the fuck off their land. Instead, it was a coyote. He squinted at her a moment, suspicious of her color, but everything else lined up, so he decided it was just a familial fluke of hers.
Oy!he replied.
I'm Draper Featherwind. You from around here?It would be nice to have a guide, especially one he could trust. Not that he'd decided not he latter part just yet, but she was more trustworthy than any other creature he could think of right now.
