All Welcome
Open to all, but paging @Brewster! <3

Dust. Ash. Smoke. And heat...un-relenting heat.
For a time, it was all he remembered. All he felt...sensed. He didn't know how long it had been since he had pushed through that choking veil of fog, but he had broken through and emerged triumphant. On the other side, lay a world foreign to him. Undaunted, the devout follower cleared his mind, letting himself be guided by the wisdom of the High Elk.
West. Head west, was the voiceless command of his one true god. Without flinching, without fear, that is where Chad turned. The scent of stale smoke and ash still lingered in the air this way, giving him hope that here indeed, is where his kin had fled to. He cared not what this land was called or what creatures dubbed these Wilds their home. His path was painted out for him and he knew only but forward. He would not be diverted from it.

Still feeling the long-gone flames licking at his ears, the smoke turning his throat to parchment, the looker of a wolf sent a reverent praise of thanks to his god when he saw the glacier and the precious lake of meltwater. The woodland surrounding it seemed peaceful, a sight to behold. It was all ignored as he rushed forward, but never, never without that little hint of a sway to his step. Sighing, he pressed his cracked lips down to the water to drink, sun fire eyes staring back at his own reflection.

He and Calhoun had parted ways shortly after their encounter, Brewster heading to a nearby woodland to search for whoever remained left of the Déorwine family (of course, remaining within a howls distance just in case). Despite his lukewarm feelings towards his nephew, the boy had inspired a sense of confidence and hope within the older male, a renewed faith in their High Elk. Surely, having found his brother's son was sign enough that he was heading in the right direction.

Slowly limping his way across a large glacier (pausing every so often to gratefully rest his injured paw upon the snow), Brewster paused to take stock of his surroundings. He was drawn to the trees, yet a tall figure by the glacial lake caught his attention. It sparked some familiarity, and as he drew closer, he let out a soft snort of surprise. Another one of their own! The High Elk must be feeling generous.

"Ah, don't worry Chad, you're no less handsome than you were before the fire," the man laughed, noticing the other's eye contest with his reflection in the water. Maybe looking a little singed around the edges, but the younger Déorwine didn't look too worse for wear.

Pulling away, his thirst quenched, several tiny beads of water clung to his black lips. Out to the distance ahead of him, beyond the reaches of the glacier, he gazed. Pondering what fate held for him in this foreign new wilderness. Then, a familiar voice from behind. Paired with a scent he knew, laced with the lingering taint of smoke. Ah, so it seemed the High Elk was gazing down favorably upon him this day.

Turning, he faced Brewster with his wry, cocky grin. Tipping his head just so, as if to further emphasize his natural good looks. "Pha, of course! A few singe marks are just my temporary accessory!" He laughed, tail waving proudly. Oh Chad, you have such a way of owning your flaws. Of spinning them, somehow, into your favor. His sun-burnt eyes gleamed, roving over his elder appraisingly. Aside from favoring a paw, Brew seemed to have escaped the inferno in one piece. "Praise the High Elk. He has brought us together again." Chad approached with his usual swagger, but with a friendly bounce in his step, reserved for kin. "Your paw. It's injured. Has it yet been treated?" His features crinkled into an expression of something more serious. Almost stern. Not invested in the medical specialty, Chad could be of little service. The most he could do was express his concern and perhaps advise Brewster to stick around this blessing of a glacier to further promote the healing process. Traveling on tender paws was a drag.

The boy turned to him with a toss of his head over one shoulder, the long fur at his ruff following the motion as if he were the star of a hair shampoo commercial. Ah, Chad. The would-be exemplary Déorwine where it not for the shock of cream around his neck. Were it not for that, Brewster perhaps almost would have been jealous of the boy. What could he have possibly done in a past life to deserve the mark of the High Elk's scorn?

The internal questions were waved away as Brewster gave a snort of a laugh at Chad's rebuttal, only to then shake his head at his show of concern. "Aye, we have certainly been blessed to find one another," he agreed, before trying to play off his injury as he had with Calhoun. "Ah, the fire didn't bite too deep," he said in as casual manner as he could. "Shouldn't cause any lasting damage."

Besides, there were more important things to deal with right now. A look of seriousness overcame Brewster's expression as he fixed the younger male in his stern gaze. "Have you come across any of the others?"
