The CM Team has identified a problematic trend: reselling of character designs and artwork portfolios. This behavior violates our art guidelines, and also disrespects the rights and efforts of original artists. We've identified several instances where permission was not received from original artists to resell these pieces. Additionally, repurposed artwork breaks continuity for multiple players whose characters may have formerly interacted with these reneged designs.
Let us be clear this is unacceptable and violates our community standards. Effective immediately, the sale or trade of characters and artwork to third parties is strictly prohibited on WOLF. We've added this language to our Guidebook. We encourage players to apply with original designs. Original commissions and YCH design purchases from the original creator remain unaffected.
The only exception: Artwork may be reused only in the context of a direct relative of an existing character, but must have artist permission.
Characters submitted with artwork previously tied to another (unrelated) character will be rejected without exception.
This decision reflects our commitment to protecting artists, player continuity, and maintaining the integrity of our community. Additionally, we would like to remind players that once accepted, a character's design is canonical and may not be significantly altered.
We've made this change to honor that WOLF is a writing site, not an art trading one. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to start a thread in Contact The Staff.
