Family and close friends welcome. I'll be PPing Fox in the background.
Although he wasn't aware enough to know it, a day had passed since he had come into the world. Derp had spent 100% of his derpy life in the company of his siblings, parents, and various other wolves who were close to the Alpha pair. Derp had remained a quiet pup, squeaking only occasionally when he pined for attention. Now was one of those moments. One of his siblings had squirmed their way past him, detaching him from a teat. He squeaked once, then rolled over, stubby legs flailing in the air.

On the second day of the firebirds' life, Elwood returned for another visit. He and Finley had spent some time with the babies only hours after their birth, and he knew that his counterpart had already been back, probably multiple times at this point. She was simultaneously horrified and entranced by the tiny puppies, and his level of curiosity wasn't much lower.
Today, he brought a gift for the babies. It was something that they wouldn't be able to play with or appreciate for some time, but he wanted to go ahead and deliver it -- before it got lost in the recesses of his burrow. He clutched the peridot carefully in his mouth as he paused at the entrance to the den, waiting for the go-ahead from Fox before stepping just inside the threshold.
"Somnia and I found this and wanted to give it as a gift," he explained to the new mother in hushed tones as he lowered himself to the floor and placed the green stone between his paws. His gaze then drifted to the pile of cubs, watching as the palest of the four mewled and rolled around, his little legs sticking straight up into the air. "Hey little guy," he whispered, reaching out with one forepaw to gently tap Derp.

Fox thanked Elwood, then watched as he tapped one of the pups.

The sensation was an odd one, but not unwelcome. For all the little derp knew, everything in this world was safe, and he had nothing to fear. This reality would eventually be broken down as his ears, eyes, and experiences were opened up to the world. But for now, he was simply in his happy place full of warmth, food, and wolves that his parents knew and trusted. The pup's legs twitched, and he let out a toot at the same time, unaware that such a thing might cause distress to the others.

Under Fox's watchful gaze, Elwood crept closer to the babe after setting the peridot to the side. For a while, it would be nothing more than a decoration in the Alphas' den. He moved close enough to lower his nose to the ground only an inch or so from the tiny cream-colored pup, his eyes very nearly crossing as he looked down at his pseudo-nephew.
He would learn quickly that it was important to watch out when around the firebirds; they, like all pups, had a habit of expelling smells or liquids from various parts of their bodies. This was the first of likely many instances in which Elwood was farted on -- there was the miniature sound of rushing air, and then the odor permeated his nostrils. He wrinkled his nose, lifting his head away from the pup. "Phew, that's a big smell for such a little guy," he commented, though he couldn't help but laugh.

Well, this is awkward. <__<
The fart was extremely satisfying, and a whimper of contentment wooshed out from the sandy boy's mouth. He began to wriggle in another direction, his soft belly scraping the ground as he did so. Eventually, he would run into something (or somebody), and would move around. In fact, he was much like a Roomba in that way. He would scoot along until he bumped into something, change directions, then scoot again. A farting potato roomba.

Guess we should, ah, finish this one up quickly... >_>
Elwood watched, amused, as the little Roomba-pup began maneuvering in another direction. His progress was slow but steady, and the Beta had to admire little Derp's determination. Once he had managed to cover a few inches of ground, Elwood extended one foreleg in front of him, providing him with the boundary that would cause him to change courses once again.

I have been having such a hard time focusing lately. @_@
The little creamy potato bumped into Uncle El's foreleg (as predicted) and squeaked. Instead of turning around, he decided to lift a single tiny paw and bat at the obstacle. It probably looked pretty hilarious, considering he was only a tiny little blip of a creature, but instinct was instinct, after all. One single paw-batting was all he managed to achieve before he lost his balance and went tumbling right over, legs splaying into the air and whirling about frantically.

The tiny puppy attempted to swat at the obstacle in his path, causing Elwood to chuckle. Derp gave him the gentlest of smacks, then promptly lost his balance and toppled over. He rolled onto his back, his little legs churning the air. Would it be mean to leave him like that? Elwood wasn't sure how much control Derp had over his own body -- evidently, it wasn't much -- and didn't know if he would be able to right himself.
Reasoning that his godparent duties probably required him to take action, he reached out with his snout and pressed it against Derp's side. Giving a soft thrust, he turned the puppy back over onto his belly.

Last one for me! :')
Although he couldn't see it, the small sandy pup felt the world spin around him as he rolled onto his belly. The pup sneezed, wiggled his feet, and his tail beat back and forth happily. He hadn't a clue that this would be one of his few interactions with this world, but his puny puppy brain couldn't possibly comprehend anything like that, anyway. The little pup's wiggling slowed, and soon, he was fast asleep, snoring as he fell into a deep sleep.

Elwood smiled down at the runt as he reacted to being rolled over by sneezing and wagging his tiny tail. The Beta glanced up at Fox, and during that moment, Derp fell asleep. By the time Elwood looked back at him, the puppy was snoozing away. He took that as his cue to leave and, after nudging Derp closer to his mother, he crept out of the den on quiet feet.
