ugh so long overdue, but here it is! @Damien

So, here it was. It was offically spring. Time to let loose what was once the winter pelt and get her feet stuck in the mud that was sure to come. But the new season offered new things, a new start after the less than dearly departure by Cyn and Venus, as she assumed they had run of into the sunset together, where they rightly belonged; alone. The story hadn't been quite clear but she was in no rush to find out. As long as the unloyal were gone, it was all fine and dandy by her. It also reminded her to seek out Cicero sometime, after all, she had missed his return and had never sought to know as much as she would like about him, It was quite embarrassing, really. She hardly knew their own Gamma. But today, she was sniffing out a personality quite different and shockingly similar. Damien had backed off quite well away since the pack hunt, moons ago. She knew that in the near-distant future he would challenge her again yet she did not see it coming at that moment. And maybe it was best, or maybe it wasn't. Such quizzical questions made her brow furrow, although she proceeded without much hesitation, nearing Redgrove where she guessed he would be.

Meldresi's bones had been cleansed, she could tell. Nothing was left of her pelt, and perhaps it was safe to enter the grove again, but she wouldn't be the one to test that theory out. Scents had come and gone, and scents had changed, as her's had slowly. It hit her like a brick, the realisation that she was now mated to Kove. Somehow along the way, their scents had rubbed off on each other; not that it was a bad thing but it was definitely not something that could be avoided, by anyone. The prospect of her life being intertwined was both sappy and scary at the same time, a concept she did not wish to figure out. It kept her on edge, much like it was the thrill of a chase. But that was not something she wanted to talk to Damien about, no, she had something else planned. The new season made travelling conditions better, and with the Moonlit Hips debacle, she wanted to see what other packs had made their landmark near them. Not to stray too far, but far enough to see who exactly was out there. Damien seemed a good candidate for her venture, and it would give her time to figure out exactly what their status was. At one point, she had deemed him her own nemesis, but now, it was something else. And she needed to figure out what.

It wasn't like Damien believed himself to be above the law, he simply didn't see them as barriers. Walking into Redgrove had not been a huge deal for him that day, he had been wanting to visit his mother's remains for once, grieve alone, and so he did. If he was asked he would say he could feel Meldresi's presence still lingering around her now clean bones, like relics, something to draw energy from. It didn't feel appropriate leaving them to rot, be consumed by the wilderness, Damien would have a word with Burke about it later.

As he walked out of the red-stained field, Damien caught a glimpse of a shadow walk by. At first he thought it was Cicero, their body shape being similar, but as he cut the distance he realized it was Nemesis who he'd been following. Ironically, It was Nemesis who had been seeking him, and there she was, ignoring Damien's presence just behind her. There were things between her and Damien that were yet to be figured out, they were rivals, that was clear, but Damien had never given her enough importance as to entitle her as his enemy. Damien respected the fact that Nemesis had earned a spot in the leadership tier, of course, she had worked hard for it and had proved her loyalty plenty of times to Burke and the pack. But that did not mean Damien liked it. He was just as worthy of that title as Nemesis was, and she'd proved to be one of Damien's few worthy opponents.
