@Burr || Backdate Nov 18th

It had been such a long time since Pema had been home it almost seemed surreal. Everything that she was used to seeing had changed, even just slightly due to the change in weather. But the smell and scent of the pack was the same, and brought her back to the reality that she was home.

She walked slowly back to her den, looking around and taking in all the changes that had happened in her absence and once she returned. But before she could do anything she would need to check up on Burr. He had fallen and sustained a rather nasty injury to his ankle. Now that they had greeted Day and were welcomed back into the pack, she set out to her den where he had been escorted earlier.

He had been told to rest and so when she approached the den she spoke softly, not wanting to disturb him too much if he was relaxing. She poked her head into her large den saying “Hey Burr. You doing all right in here?”

Burr was destined to remain in Morningside for minimally six weeks, but with the severity of his break, it was more likely to take nine or even ten weeks to be healed enough for him to travel as far as Easthollow. For the first little while in Morningside, he was reclusive, moody and somewhat unresponsive to anyone but Pema and Easy, who came along frequently to check on him and tend to his ankle. They had set the bone as best they could (they were all wolves, after all) and splinted his ankle with wraps of various types of material, then gave him free run of the rendezvous site and Pema's den for healing.

Much of his time was spent in Pema's den, sleeping or trying not to move too much. The pain in his ankle was a constant, throbbing reminder of his screw up, and being only half a year old, Burr wasn't well equipped for sucking it up yet. He whined frequently whenever he needed to move the injured ankle, and the world practically ended every time he forgot about his injury and put weight on it. Yes, Burr was a miserable wolf to be around for the first week in Morningside, so it was a wonder that Pema and Easy kept coming back at all.

As that first week began to draw to a close, though, Burr became less miserable and more resigned to his condition. There was nothing he could do about it, and no amount of thinking of his family would make them realize what happened to him, so why be such a brat? When Pema's head cut the light filtering through the wide mouth of the den, Burr even mustered up a smile for her when he lifted his head and shook his tail. "Yeah, I'm okay," he said, and for once, he meant it.

She returned his smile and gentle tail wag and as she walked into the den. At first she simply glanced over at his ankle, making sure that the initial was on the decline and that it was still situated well within the splint. Seeing that everything as ok, she sat down and asked him. "Is there anything I can get for you? Some food or something to ease the pain." she asked wanted to make sure that he was comfortable within the den.

She had seen to his wounds, but still didn't know the young boy too well. She would have to ask him alittle bit about himself after getting anything he needed, she thought.

"Nah," Burr replied, dropping his snout back across his forelegs and wincing when he unintentionally jerked the injured one. Keeping it immobile was going to take a lot of getting used to. Luckily, he was the sort of kid who liked to lounge around without much responsibility, so at least he had the bed rest aspect of it down pat. He idly licked his lips, searching through his skull for a potential conversation topic—what did you talk about with total strangers, anyway?—and ended up falling short for a time.

Eventually, after a very pregnant pause, Burr wondered, "can you cure curses, too?" A fair amount of time had passed since he had met that black-coated witch lady near the haunted forest, but he remembered her well enough to equate Pema, a healer, with her. Surely if one medic could do it, all of them could, right?

She thought Burr was being modest, but she didn't want to push him. As long as he was well feed and healthy, that was enough for now. She turned her head to the side when he asked his question. "A curse? What kind of curse? I believe their usually broken rather then cured." she questioned. It seemed like an out of the blue question, but a very interesting one. Did Burr beleive that he was cursed somehow?
