All Welcome

it is night.
colour is stolen entirely from the world, and the steady hum of background cries and calls has faded into silence. it is late into the night, and the wood she seeks shelter within has gone still; it is the brief period between the night creature's reign and the earliest bird calls that leave nothing and no one ruling over the wood. the girl is awake, sleep evading her as mind slips into the kinds of thoughts that the light of day chases away and the night shuts out in sleep, allowed now to run rampant through the forefront of her mind.

her head tilts upward, imagining distant and faded memories of a tapestry laid across the heavens, delicate and bold all at once. she angles her head, twisting, until a gasp builds on her throat and she pauses, still. a glowing orb sits at the edges of her vision, half shadowed by something, yet there all the same. she knows it at once to be the moon, yet never before has she witnessed it since the storm took her eyes. they are healing - slowly, surely, and never completely will they mend - and for the first time does the appearance of the moon have her realize this.

she moves, abruptly and suddenly, knowing she must escape from beneath the canopy, reckless in her sudden quest to see the orb without the distracting shadows and blurred shapes above. but chance is cruel to her, and she stumbles headlong into a thornbush she might have avoided in the day's light. despite herself, she lets out the smallest of cries, pushing herself backward as thorns jab cruelly into her pawpads and chest, brambles clinging to the fur of her shoulders and forelimbs.

Growling, snarling, angry tormenting words. Biting, tearing, small tears at her flesh. Nobody hears her cries, nobody knows who he really is when they're alone.
Hyacinth woke up with a cry, her breath heaving and limbs shaking. The nightmares of Preston's torment hadn't plagued her in months, not since she had started to realise he wouldn't bother to come after her. The sudden comeback had her truly shaken and so she stood up and decided to take a long walk. She'd be back in Sunspire by the middle of the day if not earlier.

She arrived in the valley with the moon shining brightly even through the trees. She paused to gaze up at the moon for a moment before a cry and a bunch of rustling grabbed her attention. She looked around and stood up, sniffing out the source to find a woman who had fallen into a thorn bush. "Hey, stop struggling. Let me help" she said softly and moved to gently pry the brambles and thorns away from her fur so she could get away.

she stills upon realizing that her frantic motions, in the moment, have only served to drive thorns further into her fur; one particular one is driven deep into her pawpad, another stabbing somewhere just above her hock. such is her predicament that her honed senses do not catch the approach of another, and the sudden voice has her still completely, working suddenly to draw in the foreign scent and determine as much as she can of the voice.

the stranger moves near, and she is still; the feminine presence (identified through voice and scent and lightness of step) moves carefully beside her, tugging at the brambles and thorns, and the girl quiets. she begins to move, untangling herself slowly and carefully, relying only on touch and careful movement to ascertain where best to shift her weight.

She had been wary at first that her presence would startle the female and either cause her to struggle more and hurt herself or earn some nips and bites in her direction. Instead the female worked with her until Hyacinth nearly had her freed, untangling the female from the thorns almost completely. There was a chunk of thorny brush that had unfortunately managed to tangle quite badly into the woman's fur and she paused, trying to figure out how best to get her freed completely. Then quickly she lifted her lips and used her sharp canines to bite through areas of the vines where there were not thorns, unhooking her so she could pull back but unfortunately leaving a bunch in her fur.

Stepping back so the female could back away, she gave a steady wag. "There you are, then. Did you get cut? I can help you pull the thorns out of your fur if you'd like. I'm Hyacinth by the way" she said brightly, eyes scanning over the female slowly to check her over.
