The young boy was becoming bolder—to an extent. He acted like he was tough shit each and every time he marched his little tush right out of the den but, the second he couldn’t see it anymore, panic usually followed. He was getting better about managing himself, though, and even manged to venture farther from the den than usu— oh no, where’d it go?! Frowning, he spun around multiple times before realising that he could still smell his familial space, which automatically made things just dandy. Why, he even decided to trek a bit farther from home! Farther and farther and farther...

...until something suddenly stopped him from taking another step and a jolt of pain shot through his muzzle.

Having not been paying attention, Kubo hadn’t noticed that he wasn’t alone—or that he’d run right into @Rhakios, until it was too late. Reversing, he was sent into a major sneezing fit, with each breath between sneezes being filled by incoherent mumbling.

He grew surlier with each passing day. Rhakios could find nothing to smile about and spent his time skulking around the creek in isolation, interacting minimally with the wolves who rescued and sheltered him. He hunted rodents for himself on occasion, but mostly helped himself to whatever the pack was putting in the caches.

The coywolf stared hatefully at a dry, dead twig. He swatted it around with his paw, deep furrows in his forehead and buckles in his snout. He was so engrossed in his brooding he had no awareness of the pup coming his way until the boy's snout jabbed into his shoulder. Rhakios snarled and snapped his teeth in the air as he sprang sideways, putting that buffer between him and this unknown and sudden threat.

Only, it was no threat. He quickly realized that, and bristling like mad, surged forward to take his bad temper out on this younger, presumably weaker specimen. Snarling, his fangs went right for the tender flesh of the other pup's nose.

The little pooch’s nose was already sore after being jammed against the other kid, and then, to add onto it, teeth came at him! He felt a pinch and that was enough to send him stumbling backwards and flailing his little limbs like nobody’s business. His heart was beating like crazy, all but threatening to bust right out of his chest like something straight out of a horror movie.

Zipping right around, Kubo took off like a bat outta hell, his pudgy little legs taking him as far from his attacker as his body was willing to go.
