All Welcome

He had been moved on from his place beneath Diaspora's claim, and by a tiny, diminutive woman no less. He should have put up more of a fight. Should have maimed her already disfigured face some more. Should have torn out her throat. He remembered that milky scent on her — either she or someone in the pack had children. He fantasised about killing them.

His mind played over every possibility as he trailed through the summits, his aimless wandering eventually taking him right to the fringes of the range where the mountains began to peter out and lead to the coastline. He got to the very edge of a shear cliff face that overlooked the ocean and bordered a veritable paradise below. He fantasised about leaping from it.

Instead, the Cairn took a path downwards, into the lush forests that the cliffs encircled, hearing the ravens perched upon the crags caw and jeer. It felt like they were mocking him. Coward. He pressed on into the woods silently.

It had been about five to six different moods that Julep had gone through in just that one day. From blissful at the sight of the ocean from the mountains, going through disgusted at her own smell and sensitive about her cramps, to the good ol' full beastmode about that crow that wouldn't stop following her around but she couldn't really reach to rip apart once he took flight.

She didn't remember last time being so intense, but she hadn't considered that she hadn't felt so surrounded and pressured to find someone to relieve her from her impulsive cravings back then. It was hard, getting all those scents of wolves from every direction, so much that she didn't even fight it anymore and turned south to pursue one of those trails.

She bumped into him (all but literally) when she least expected it. She could hear his steps in the distance first, walking through the forest like he was the only living this around, and something in Julep pushed her to chase after him like a lost puppy, making no effort to conceal her presence once she was within his field of vision. She didn't really know what she was doing, but she was doing it anyway, take her where it may.

The forest was all but silent, yet he still heard the disturbance of earth and crunching of leaves underfoot as someone rushed at him. He felt the familiar prickle of irritation creep up his spine, anticipating another fight. He had mostly recovered from his last altercation, though if one was to look closely there was still dried blood in places, and scrapes that would have healed by now in any other healthier wolf.

He spun with a warning snarl, tail flinging into the air as he sought to meet her with teeth. Only, she didn't seem to be approaching with violent intent. The sandy colour of her coat and blazing sun yellow eyes made him falter for a moment, reminded for some reason of the fiery woman he had encountered on the coast that one time. However, not wanting his irritation to be missed by the stranger, Redshank resumed his ugly sneering, inquiring with a lift of his head, "what th'hell d'you want?"

Perhaps it was the smell that intrigued her. So pungent and sour, that it reminded her of perhaps every single wolf she had ever encountered in her life outside of teekon. But this one had much more that called to her. Something she couldn't put her finger on if she tried.

Soon after deciding to follow him Julep is caught red handed, but his aggressiveness did nothing to scare Julep. Some rum and pussy would be fantastic, she said nonchalantly, Why? You offering, muckface? she spat with a wry smile that would have gotten her cut down anywhere else. She'd been daring in her time with the reavers and learned a thing or two about teaching lessons, and this guy was begging to get his ass whooped to finish the job that was clearly left unfinished.
