All Welcome
As he returned north along the chasm, the earth became more level and the shuddering of the earth became less intense. The wolf roamed as close to the edge as he dared until he could reach the river's shallow edge, and watched the water as if it were a living, breathing thing. It reminded him of the sea, obviously; but it was different too, cleaner, not as chaotic, almost --- calm. It was exactly what he needed but not what he wanted. Firefly wanted adventure and distraction. The longer he stood there, up to his wrists in the water, he felt a weight lifting from his shoulders and a soothing quiet settling around him.

The river was immense. He couldn't see the other side too clearly, although there were green-black smudges along the opposite bank - and the misted mountains, blurred from the distance as well as the clouds - so it wasn't as endless as the sea. He wondered if he could swim across, but knew better than to try; it was more likely that the center of the river was too deep and too quick, and he wasn't about to tempt fate like that. As he was observing the river though, Firefly thought he saw something splash — not just once, and not in one area either — and he grinned, realizing they were fish grabbing at springtime bugs.

Life here would be far easier than the coast, he thought — but he turned from the riverside and looked west, considerate of his next move. If Yami wanted to stay here for a while then that would be nice, but was he seeking nice? Or was he seeking crazy? Was Firefly a scoundrel and a pirate looking for some danger, or someone boring and tame? The man frowns as he thinks about it, then huffs, banishing the line of thought before it can spiral out of his control.

As long as Yami is with him, he'll be fine.
know yourself and go in swinging

for once the girl was still, not running around the place looking for something to fill her insatiable need for constant amusement, finally she had given in to the basic human need she despised most; rest. her long, golden body lay stretched along the bank of a river she'd come across and as much as she hated to admit it. she felt good, peaceful even. it was a nice enough day and the lush grass was soft beneath her as she finally gave in to the heaviness of her drooping eyelids and let sleep lay its claim on her.

she had no idea how much time had passed before a soft splashing sound roused her from the warm, fuzzy depths of sleep and she'd lift her head- blinking groggily against the bright light. the worst part about sleep wasn't the actual thing itself, it was the gross feeling afterwards. for a few moments she just lay there gathering her bearings which consisted of pushing her snout stubbornly under her paws. however she would then remember that something or maybe even someone had been what had caused her to wake in the first place so her head would now lift in one quick movement- teal eyes suddenly a lot more alert. turns out it really was worth looking, a dark boy had waded out into the shallows hence the 'soft splash noise' that had started all this.

for a few moments she simply lay in the grass- quite unlike her usual self who'd be up and in his face in seconds. no, she woud approach the situation differently today. long forepaws would slide forward in quite the luxurious stretch as she'd then rise from the flattened patch that gave away her former position. she now sat tall, much more visible now especially as the sun caught her golden pelt and let it shine bright as its own rays /probably looked even better might she add/. teal eyes danced with amused curiosity as her head would tilt to the side in her little bird like movement. for once letting the other make first contact.

The quiet of the moment was broken only by the shrill peeping of birds, and the sound of the rushing river. He didn't notice the movement of the stranger until they'd completed their stretch and sat up, watching him — and while Firefly remained oblivious for a few seconds, he did eventually glance her way and take notice of the striking golden shade of her coat. Although he was a bit spooked to find a wolf lingering alongside the river (where before it had just been himself and Yami), his first thought afterwards was of his so-called sister. Was that Niamh? Had she come looking for him and gotten lost...?

He sloshed his way out of the shallows, unaffected by the damp feeling of his paws against the grass. It reminded him of being on the beach, and was somewhat of a comfort. As he drew nearer he noticed the way she tilted her head and watched him — but saw no familiarity to her features. Was this Niamh? Was this a total stranger...? To be honest, Firefly couldn't tell; he had only met the woman once according to his fragmented memory. To be safe he smiled, his tail waving at his hocks as a friendly pendulum.

Hey there, he called as he approached. You weren't uh, lookin' for me, were you? As he asks this, he studies her face — convinced that this was the woman from before until he notices the difference in size around her middle. This wolf wasn't as plump as the Niamh he had met, which cast some doubt on his assumption.
