All Welcome
While Joss spent most of his time moping around, he had begun to take advantage of the merciful summer months and the bounty of small animals that he could hunt on his own. He'd taken some time in the morning to rid himself of the last few clumps of matted, half-shedded fur, so he looked a bit more like a wolf and a bit less like a ragdoll. Still well below a healthy weight but healthy enough to get around, he'd had good success hunting new fawns- ones too young and small to keep up with the adults, so when he came upon a herd of deer in a clearing that spooked at the sight of him, he knew not all hope was lost. He went out, then, and scanned the clearing, knowing that a few of the does would have tucked their fawns into hiding. He'd found three and had made short work of killing them.

He felt fairly proud of himself, so he'd eaten one of them instantly, inhaling every bit that was edible. It was a good meal that would last him a little while- and he could store the other two away for a less fortunate day- or pass them on to someone else, whoever stopped him and demanded one. So he carried both- dragging them by their necks, straddling them as he walked along. It wasn't a glorious kill, but the two dead fawns were still a stroke of luck, and a good meal for a single wolf. He'd take them to a cache, he thought, or simply carry them around until someone saw him with his kills- at which point, he'd surrender one, and hopefully get a bit of applause for contributing.
