the world around her expanded with each growing day. swift paws, now a sooty gray, squeezed their way past her slumbering brother and towards the ever alluring light the peaked into the den. warmth had always been of interest to the girl and so she naturally took to the comfort that the sun's rays provided. this time however, she took a step further.
one step, two step, three step, four. and then before she knew it there was no longer the shield of shadows she had become so accustomed to. it was bright - too bright. she fell to the floor and lay belly up with eyes squeezed shut as she soaked up the sun near the mouth of the den. adventures were tiring, even if they were no more than a few steps from home.
