All Welcome
She rolled a bone against her teeth, glaring out in dejection over the rolling lake. Her shoulder still smarted from being shoved about, and she grumbled to herself about the reminder.

Metis, as a creature, wasn’t a very good person. She recognized that. She lacked discipline or whatever. She was an angry, fire spitting, inflammatory little shithead, in the words of those who had been around her for more than five minutes, and she didn’t even want to know what her mother thought of her.

..it had been a long time since she’d seen Themis.

The bone splintered, and Metis hissed low beneath her breath as the shards stuck in her gums. She immediately dropped the bone, using a mix of her tongue and a paw to shove the shards from her mouth, spitting them out seconds later. She glared at the bone, kicking it out onto the lake.

An afternoon comprised of nothing but silence. The way he liked it.

Of course, he held nothing against social interaction—but a bit of peace and quiet could hardly ever be so easily declined.

Down a small incline, the mammoth of a man plundered. The time was filled with silent pleas that he wouldn't trip over an object, or maybe even his own paw, while he trudged the steep.

But a faint sound ahead almost triumphed against his success.

Pausing once he'd reached the bottom, the man's gaze trailed his surroundings, both curious and cautious. Was someone else here? Had a critter poked too close? Or was he simply just hearing things?

There was blood in her mouth, she noted with derision. The child groaned out a little note of disappointment at the taste. Her mentor in the Myrmidons had always told her blood tasted sweet.

Maybe that was others. Metis’s blood just tasted salty.

The winter white child reached out to dunk her nose into the water, opening her mouth and swishing it vigorously back and forth, unaware of just how stupid she looked.

Someone was here.

A young someone, at that — or so they appeared to be.

Approaching at a slow pace, Theoxaris watched the individual with an odd interest. They amused him, in a way.

Enjoying the taste of the water— ? He mused, brow lifting slightly.

It was the approach that made her snap her jaws closed, rearing her head back to stare unerringly at the approaching man.

Unnoticed by her, her hackles had lightly raised, the child spooked by such an approach.

I, uh, got something stuck in my mouth. It was bleeding. She more mumbled than said, burning under her fur with embarrassment.
