He's just being nosy!

It was curiosity at first that drew the crow into the chambers of the mesa, followed by the faint scent of flowers and berries that coaxed him further in. It was by complete happenstance that he had managed to find the entrance at all but now that he was within the caverns, he figured he may as well see if he could find the source of the fruit-smell.

It was a strange feeling, being completely entombed within red walls and losing sight of the sky above. It made Arsène feel a little claustrophobic and vulnerable. His usual swagger even slowed to become a wary meander, talons clicking as he explored deeper into the underground, beady eyes taking in the foreign surroundings.
