the scent had been fresh when he first picked it up, tangled in the undergrowth where the creature had brushed against the low-hanging branches. a hare would’ve been easier, but @elowen needed more than scraps.
he had tracked the young fawn for nearly an hour, following the staggered path of its steps. it had wandered too far from its mother and unknowingly into the fate of his jaws. when he caught sight of it, standing knee-deep in a narrow stream, the kill had been swift.
now, he carries it back to his mate, all whilst blood seeps against his tongue and pools against his cheeks. drippling from the bottom of his jaw down the thick of his chest fur.
