All Welcome
AW ; looking for some loners to befriend !!

he was scouting up ahead, now. aiming to move alongside the curves of the lake. the falls in which drifted down from the mountain range were visible up ahead, and iseldur flicked his tail curiously. his travelling partner, @Cathal, would likely be somewhere nearby, perhaps bounding a few ways behind him.

the golden-blonde man was keen on finding someone to stick with ; not for his own safety, but to ensure that his mac remained protected, fed, cared for, in case something ever happened. something that kept the knight away from his squire. something that he could not prevent. the man shook his head, then, and continued walking.

careful paws ensured an easy path through the snow, tail swaying low by his hocks. nose carefully drinking in the scents that drifted around and towards him. the sun was low on the horizon, shining behind him, casting a shadow upon his face as he moved north-west. emerald eyes carefully analyzing his surroundings. curious. new to this land.

iseldur hoped to meet someone he could faithfully place his trust in.

Having stopped for a drink, the smaller canine was now following behind Iseldur. Close enough that they were in sight of each other, but far enough that his idling could get him in trouble.

His nose was to the ground, checking for scents of anything that may be of interest.

He was determined to be helpful.

trouble certainly came
in the form of a blue winged menace

two figures cast their long shadows
on the lonesome cold ground

one tall and shapely
one small, mouse sized, drinking

blue mist folds his perfectly aerodynamic wings
and plummets

immaculately encapsulating the reason
all mammals fear movement from the skies

just a whoosh of winter air
his body signing
DEATH FROM ABOVE
at bullet speed

iseldur looked back when he heard the crunch of snow behind him, signifying the squire's presence. words were readying to form upon his tongue when he saw the beast swoop down. and without thought he twisted back on himself, paws springing for the boy. eyes wide, springing forward to yell: cathal! as its' shadow loomed overhead.

he was quick to firm his ground, standing over the small canine. lips pulled back in a growl, baring his fangs at the bird that above them. stay below, he barked at the boy. until it leaves. oh, if only there were fish within the lake that could draw its attention. but with winter, they had all likely swam further upstream. all iseldur could do was growl, his tail flagging high above his back in a threatening manner.

ears flattened ; he was scared. not for himself, but for his mac.

For Cathal, birds were always either predators or prey, but never both. Large birds were never something to bat an eye at.

At Iseldur's panicked yell he was quick to look up, eyes wide in fear. He didn't have a good track record with birds, and pàpa knew that well. He had adopted the boy after saving him from being pecked at by a gull, after all. He was still a puppy then, freshly escaped from his yard.

He lowered to to ground below the wolf, eyes wide with fear and ears flat to his head.

It will go away? He asked, voice hushed.

hiss click click click clack;
blue mist crash lands on stilt legs
his prey barricaded by golden flesh

he turns his head this way and that
black eyes on the shadowed thing below

stalking round on his twiggy legs
he harrumphs and grumbles
feathers ridging in displeasure

first he advances with head held aside
long beak raised before him like a sword

a stab! a thrust! a dart backwards
as he tests this wolf and his mettle

wanting deeply the warm thing
held just out of his hunger's grasp

knight avoided the sharp beak like how he would a sword. his jaws would part to release a bark ; a warning, one that said 'back off'. eventually, he said to the boy who lingered beneath his sun-kissed body. scared, it has to be, if we want departure.

he would crane his neck downwards, then. bark, boy. we bark together, scare it away. and so he would let out a chorus of swears, of barks that he could only hope would threaten the death-bird enough to encourage its exit. he firmed his body, too. holding tight to the ground below, tensing his muscles, becoming a shield for his boy.

we be patient, iseldur murmured. it will give up. fly away.

Bark, he told him, and so he did. A stream of yappy woofs and barks escaped him, directed at the bird that he so deeply feared would take him away.

Strutting, stalking around him, his only comfort was Iseldur. He trusted that the man would not allow him to be taken; snatched up and raised into the sky. It was a fear that would never fade, for the possibility was so real.

Away! falbh, a bheathaich! He snapped, paws planted to the ground.
