All Welcome
Once again, in the early morning, Gannet woke from the same nightmare, gasping and with a racing heart. He began to calm down almost immediately; it was not real. But it was one of those dreams that couldn't not be followed by immediate return to sleep, so he got to his feet and set off in the still dark meadow.

He picked a spot near an overhang, one with a bit of a view, and just sat a while. He'd been living here long enough now to know the mountain somewhat, though there was still a lot to learn about living on it. Too tired to start in yet but not able to return to sleep, he remained there for a while, staring out and just thinking a while.

Vela was often awake at night. She would guard the alpha den. The female took her duties quite serious. She was not ready to form an opinion about her new siblings but the female did like becoming a warrior. She hoped that she would soon be able to start on her specialty. She would let her family decide when.

Darkness covered the territory and she just switched her guard, making her duty free for the night. Vela didn't feel like sleeping yet so she was quite interesting to spark a conversation with the wolf that was also awake on this hour. She had spotted Gannet which made her decide to be social. She approached him with a chuff in greeting.

Figured they were on first name basis! :D Let me know if you want me to change it

yay!!! That's fine!

Gannet was off in his own world, practically dozing sitting up, when Vela greeted him. He started, then turned, relaxing when he noticed it was her and returning the greeting with a quiet huff and a small smile. He knew her some, as he did all of Charon's children at this point. Hydra he still knew best; her sisters still wanted nothing to do with him it seemed. But Jarilo and Vela both seemed friendly to his presence here, and this pleased him.

"Couldn't sleep?" He asked quietly, turning to look back at the view, though he kept his ears sideways to catch a responde. He assumed maybe she was up early the same reason he was.

Vela shook her head in reply to the other wolf. "I shouldn't be sleeping. I was guarding the puppy den," she explained to the other white wolf. The female sat down by him. Her words sounded a bit strict, like a trained soldier. However, Gannet's calm presence made her relax. She was slightly tired from keeping her senses alert but not too much that she needed to sleep now.

'How about you? Why are you still awake?," she wondered. Vela could think of many reasons but instead of assuming she would just see what he had to say. Her blue eyes traveled over the horizon, once again realizing that she never left Moonspear.

Oh. "You've seen them?" He asked, interested. He hadn't been able to yet but he hoped soon..... they sounded like a lot of fun.

His reason was less fun, but he wasn't against sharing it. "Bad dreams," he said, frowning a bit as he recalled them. At least they didn't come every night - just a lot of them. "About water." He wondered at it, as it likely sounded a little ridiculous. Hopefully she wouldn't think he was too weird for having nightmares about something so normal. At least the sky was pretty this early, he thought, glancing up.

Vela shrugged. It wasn't really a yes or no answer. 'I've seen them, sort of. The den is dark and they don't do much instead of being small but father wants me to protect them." It was a simple task, or so, Vela felt that it was. The borders were far more exciting. The speckled female turned her head when the white male was so honest in his answers. She probably wouldn't have told the others about her nightmares if she had them.

"Oh. Nightmares can be quite bothersome," she agreed with a minimal nod. "Did something ever happen to you in the water?," she asked curiously. She didn't even think that this might spark some bad memories with the male. She was just curious as to why he would have nightmares about water. Normally water was rather essential to life, at least in Vela's mind. She rather saw water as something she needed, not dangerous.

Gannet wasn't the type to worry too much about showing weakness, not the emotional sort. Every thought he had was plain as daylight on his face, and the idea of hiding something from another to appear strong was foreign. It was hugely likely he'd never gain a status, but he didn't mind that; he only needed friends.

"I fell in." He said, frowning with a slight shiver as he recalled the river swallowing him. "I don't remember. But Hydra found me." She'd helped him back, thankfully... he might have survived without her assist, but he might not have.

Vela glanced at him curiously. That must have been quite some river then. "So is that why you are in our pack? Because my sister saved you?," Vela wondered curiously. Now she thought if she should save strangers as well, perhaps that would fill their ranks! Then again, she was perfectly fine with the group they had now. She knew everyone and things were still going great.

"Perhaps you can fight your fear? Or do you not want to fight it? You might not have nightmares if you face your fear?," Vela suggested. Now she was really curious how this male would drink water. Perhaps he was not that afraid?

He shook his head. "No." He didn't elaborate, seeing as the reason he was here wasn't necessarily a good subject for their family, much as they had moved past it. The water had been recent.

The thought of swimming to face the fear hadn't occurred to him, but he shook his head again. Not without needing to, not yet. "It's ok." He wondered if she spoke from experience or just ideas. "D'you have bad dreams?" Maybe this sort of thing was common.

Vela seemed to have made a wrong assumption. Gannet had been clear about that. She was surprised that the other wanted to live with his fear. "You want to live with your fear?," she questioned. Maybe she was wrong but it sounded like Gannet was fine with that.

"No," she spoke. She had nothing to be afraid of. She had been attacked on the border but she also was saved by Drogon and other packmembers. She was safe here. Other than that nothing had happened to her. Perhaps the death of her sister but she was actually glad about that.

He nodded. "For now." He had no need to overcome it right now, so he wouldn't. The dreams weren't great, but he wasn't convinced throwing himself in the nearest river was going to get rid of those either.

Well that was good, that she didn't have them. He could feel it still, that if he slept again it would come back, so he didn't want to. Instead, maybe she would do something with him?

"Wanna run?" He asked, a little out of the blue, but getting to his feet and stretching. He then hopped forward, his tail lifting playfully as he looked back.

Vela nodded in sentiment to Gannet. The female sat in silent by the other when he suggested they would go for a run. Vela nodded. "Yes, let's run until we are both tired," she agreed. She liked the idea of a midnight run. She knew these mountains well. She had no fear of falling off or stumbling. She hopped to her feet and then gave him a bit of a grin before dashing off, she was certain that he would catch up with her eventually.

She was game for it as well, and he shook off the weariness as she started the run, following behind as quickly as legs would carry him. He no longer had her speed (if he even did to begin with) but he would follow gamely enough, and eventually they would run until, as she put it, they couldn't any longer!
