Compared to the mountains, Ramsay was disappointed with how easy the mesa overlooking the woods was to climb. Even with his injury he was able to scale it in under an hour. It presented only a few small challenges: first, the heavy layer of snow miring the entire place, suggesting not many visited it; and second, an abundance of pitfalls made by burrowing hares. Nevertheless he made it unscathed to the very top and came to stand like some hunched gargoyle on the precipice.
With a gentle sigh, he turned his body so his face was craning up into the blustering wind. The branches of Blackfeather clacked in the distance, too far away to be heard even with upturned ears. It felt good to be home, but it wasn't the same without Cicero and Euron. Ramsay allowed himself a moment of silence for his deceased father and his misplaced brother, counting silently to ten before turning away again. Nothing specific brought him here, but now that he was looming over his forest home, he sought to be useful in some way. Finding food, maybe, or maybe someone who had more information on the forest's downfall.
