Due to the unfamiliar territory about, he was extra cautious. His ivory toes slipped carefully over the ground. The natural litter of sticks, stones and pine cones were dodged as thoroughly as if they were minefields. About a mile ago, he had begun stalking a deer. It was silly to think that he, a lone Buffalo wolf, could overtake a foe such as Bambi's mother, but he was willing to give it a try, nonetheless.

A bark? He thought to himself, his mind puzzled instead of irritated. As the doe raced off for cover, he allowed his attention to sift to something more interesting. The cream form shifted immediately to that of a respectful creature, as opposed to a hunting predator. Those lovely triangles on his head squished themselves closely to his skull, while his banner dropped to a nonthreatening place. Instead of charging forward to greet the barker, he stayed where he was.
Assuming the fellow eventually came close, the buffalo wolf dipped his broad skull in an act of humility. I was hoping to come across a pack, he said, his voice deep and calming.
Gold eyes fixed the male with a cautious look when he spoke of coming across a pack, a small chuckle escaped the wolf-dog. Not from around here huh? You don't have to look far for packs. a half smile remained when he finished talking, it was a true fact. Packs seemed pretty abundant and active this side of the wilds. Why? The question was simple, but vague, his answer would give the halfbreed an Idea of what he actually wanted though.
I'm sure I came from somewhere distant, he laughed, his tail wagging to show that he was only too happy to oblige the other in conversation. Some wolves can be loners, but I'm clearly not the sort. Now he was referencing the echoing, empty pit of his stomach. I'm looking for anyone that needs a grunt. Just someone to fill the ranks and do as they're told. Of his brothers, he had always been the least dominant. He had almost always stayed quiet until, eventually, he gained some flicker of attention. Then he'd lap it up as thoroughly as he could.
Fill the ranks? It seemed a rather menial existence, but if it was what the white male intended to do with his life, who was Fang to argue, not everyone was designed to make as much trouble as they could. The half-breed sat inspecting the creature before him, it wasn't really his choice, or in fact it wasn't his choice at all whether the interloper could join.
So you were just wandering around here hoping to bump into one of us, and jump on in? he questioned the male with irrelevant questions. Chances are @Ferdie von pelt wouldn't be far away, and even if he was, the male could call him if need be. What sort of skills would you offer?
I've never had to join a pack, he reasoned. I didn't think there was anything to i other than finding an alpha and asking permission. He sounded oafish, but he was merely uncultured as to the gears and gizmos of the real world and the delicate operations of a non-family group. When called upon to speak of his credentials, his tail swept to one side. I'm incredibly loyal. Once I'm in a group, I'll die to protect it. I'll listen to my superior's orders, even if I don't always agree with them. I'm a fair hunter while on my own, but in a group I'm outstanding and do everything in my power to complete what's expected of me. Bruce knew he had many shortcomings and was admitting that he would give the best he could, as opposed to being the best of the best.
Only a small amount of time had passed since the conversation had begun. The herd of deer were still close enough to track, but far enough away that they were no longer a liable option to hunt.
Doing his best to hide his mild disdain and amusement. I'm sure you'll fit right in if you decide to stay around but that's not for me to say. he looked around uncertain if anyone who could supply info for the loyalist wolf. Generally Ferdie appeared out of nowhere to attract anyone to his pack. Then again this wasn't a female so maybe his interests were elsewhere. what's your name?
Such a situation didn't call for exhilaration or extraneous amounts of joy. His hind leg lifted and he began to scratch at an itchy spot behind his ear. And yours? he fed back, hoping to glean any sort of insight from the fellow. He was dying to ask about the strange scent that the other was emitting...but that would probably be as socially acceptable as him taking a dump on the guy's nose.
Ferdie Von Pelt trekked down from ’his’ Mountain he was looking for a good place to sit and think, to sort out his personal problems.
He quickly found out though he didn’t want to be alone with these thoughts there was not much he could think of to do, no diplomatic solution, no one whom would understand his inner turmoil Jace had enough on his own plate. So he turned and started to make his way back home. Only to nearly stumble over Fang and another wolf far enough back that he gave himself enough space to pause and compose himself. He listened in and smirked he never bothered with questions they answer was usually the same each time. But not this time Ferdie already liked this wolf it sounded just like him.
Having heard enough, Ferdie strode up to them confidently his tail high over his back but not out of show mostly because he was comfortable having it there. He nodded to the new male and then placed his chin upon the males shoulders, The action was not aggressive, nor was his demeanor anything but confident, he held no hint of rejection or aggression
He was intending to show the male whom owned who, and thusly marking him as a pack member and placing his own scent upon the male pelt all in one wordless action. Ferdie waited for the male to react to his invasion of personal space ready for a rebuttal, or attack even though he didn't move, continuing to use this new wolf as a chin rest.
It seemed that tonight wasn't his time to learn of the fellow's name who had first greeted him. Instead, his orange eyes settled on a brute that approached with a tail displayed for the world to see. Bruce fairly assumed that this was the leader. Instead of drawing his lips backwards and exposing his capable fangs, the large fellow slipped his skull toward his paws. His respectful gesture remained locked to his muscles, awaiting some sort of regard from the male.
Having been taught to be submissive from early on, it never crossed his mind to be disloyal or ambitious toward leadership. The others could do the work, while he waited quietly in the corner for a bit of food or attention. When the assumed alpha simply put his chin upon Bruce's frame, he kept steady, waiting for what would happen next. If this was an assertion of dominance, it sure beat getting humped.
Ferdie Von Pelt mouthed Bruce's ear and moved off giving him space. Welcome Home Bruce. I am Ferdie Von Pelt and that is Fang since I interrupted him Ferdie inclined his head slightly to his new pack mate before rumbling off the same item he spoke to all new wolves There is a law that can not be broken, if you want to remain here. The Sunspire Pack can never go near Swiftcurrent creek and nor can they come near here. There is a truce that shall not be broken by us. If a swiftcurrent wolf is found on or in our boarders attack first then report to me or our Beta Jace Ferdie spoke with finality he waited and watched for Bruce's reaction.
