For a moment life had slowed down, and Kemal chose to use the time to visit the grave of Leandros. It had been decorated by Kemal as well as others paying their respects, the site now marked by various animal skulls, feathers, flowers, and rocks.
Laid next to the risen mound of land he was silent, but his solemn expression said what he did not.
Kemal was yet to tell his mother that Leandros was dead. He didn't have it in him to break her heart, not while she seemed to be so ill, he was afraid that the grief would kill her. On some days he thought it would be the end of him, too.
Some part of him didn't want to leave the pass, if only to keep the grave within his sights. But he had done this once before, he knew better now. It hadn't mattered that he left Narin's grave site behind when he left home, she was still with him. Now Leandros would be too.
After speaking with Disa, a thought had began to pass his mind on occasion; if he were to take a new wife, if he were to move on, what would make her worthy?
He couldn't put a paw on it. In his mind Narin had been perfect, nobody could replace her. Kemal sighed, knowing well that Leandros would have known just what to tell him.
