Karliah pounced around happily as a hare hang limp in her mouth. She tossed the rabbit up in the air and caught it back in her mouth. There is nothing like playing with food the pale wolfess thought. A smile crept up on her face as she made her way to her den. She was glad to be part of a pack again, but she felt out of place here. The wolves she met both had dark fur, and she had seen a few other dark wolves in the pack, but never actually introduced herself.

Once she reached her den she threw the hare into the entrance. Her tail swayed back and forth, and she sat down beside her den. The pale wolfess began to groom her paws and while doing so started to hum a song.

Potema, her fluffy white pelt streaked with "dyes" (which were in actuality different colored streaks of mud), ran through the forest. She was on a scavenger hunt, searching for the new herbs that poked through the undergrowth as the days grew warmer and longer. Meldresi occupied her on these relay missions nearly every day, and they served to strengthen her knowledge in herblore, both in the appearance, but where the plants liked to grow.

She found a small clump of a sweet-grass, and snipped off three-quarters of it, leaving the last quarter to regrow later. Successful, the princess turned to run back to the tunnel and deliver her prize, but a noise caught her attention. Her baby-blue eyes flickered towards the sound, and she saw a large, white wolf there, grooming her paws. Now Potema was intrigued. White wolves were rare in Blackfeather; for some reason, black wolves seemed drawn by the similarly black woods. She had only known two other wolves with white coats, but they were both gone. Both Daddy, and Not-Daddy (the one with the copper eyes like Cicero), had disappeared. Daddy's was unexplained, but Mother had sad Not-Daddy, aka Kove, was leading a pack of his own now.

This wolf was different from those two: she was female. The princess toddled towards the white-coated wolf, her head cocked at the humming noise she heard drifting from her vocal chords. "Waff swong?" She said, forgetting that there was a clump of grass in her mouth.
