There was a vibrant aura of satisfaction beaming from Kalika. She sat atop the smooth lid to a jagged body of rocks, the brisk air dousing her in the salt of the Sea. A little ditty was sung under her breath, clouding the air in white swirls of her breath. She wagged her tail along to the beat, hoping to attract her boy who she had not seen since the encounter with the wolves of Drageda.

The Siren was growing quite lonely without his company. She had only Gabe and Akantha, save for the bittersweet affections of Indie, so whatever time she could have with him would be of value, to say the least.

Gabe was in the vicinity when he heard her soft song, her siren song through which she called her sailor boy. Gabe couldn't ever resist her call, and over the past few days he hadn't seen her, prompting his to run to her. He couldn't wait to see her dark blue eyes, sapphire like the dawn sky and reflection the moon made on the ocean. Such beauty couldn't be ignored so easily. Soon he found her, sitting elegantly atop a rock formation. He looked up at her for a few moments, not yet letting her know of his presence, simply listening to her tune.

You're really beautiful ya know. He called smoothly, a grin on his face and a fire in his amber eyes.

Kalika turned to look over her shoulder, a slight smile on her maw as she watched him. Rather than speaking her thanks to the boy, she nodded her head for him to come up onto the formation with him and share the limited space. It's rude to spy on people, she whispered in a playful tone, It's an invasion of my privacy, I do believe. She gave a toothy grin and continued with her song, reciting the poem in her mother tongue.

Νεαρό αγόρι, πορτοκαλί μάτια,
Γιατί έχετε επιστρέψει?

Why do you stay, Gabe? she asked, truly curious as to why he refused to leave her side. Hell, if Kalika was in his shoes, she would've high-tailed it on the first day. So what was keeping him here?

Gabe laughed at Kalika's little jest, and made his way up to where she sat. Yeah well how could I possibly resist. He said, a bounce in his step as he walked over to sit down beside her. She began to sing her song again, and he watched her in awe. All the ocean to look at, but the boy couldn't tear his gaze off of Kalika. When she finished she asked a question, that had Gabe a little taken aback. It was a fair question albeit, but not one he'd been expecting. He sort of wanted to tell her the truth, not that he was lying, but he wasn't telling her all of it.

But instead he decided to blow it off, and reply with another smooth and flirty remark. If I didn't, then how would I see you? He said, shifting a little closer to her so that their sides touched.

Ah, Kalika breathed as she relished in Gabe's attention, I see. Once he was close enough, she nosed at his chin and relaxed her head on his shoulder as she stared out to the Sea. If that's the case, then I don't blame you; I'm one in a million. There was a playful lilt to her words, but it was obvious that she wasn't joking. Even when all else felt as though it had gone to shit, Kalika could always depend on her ego. Her tail whipped around so that it encased them both into one form, shining in the sunset's light. What do you want in life?

Gabe purred softly as Kalika laid her head on his shoulder, the warmth that she brought was welcome. Her comment made him laugh, and he glanced down at her with a smile. Well you're not wrong. He said softly, nudging her muzzle with his nose. He felt her tail around his back and for that moment he felt perfectly happy. This, was why he'd stayed. Kalika made him feel happy, like he had a home. Blackwater Islands wasn't exactly his home, but it was hers and that was enough for him. Perhaps he was a bit naive, but he wanted someone to call his family again so badly, he'd decided to trust practically the first girl he'd met. If it had been a mistake, then he'd find out soon enough.

She asked him what he wanted in life, and he turned his head towards the sunset to think. What did he want? A family mostly, friends, someone to watch over and love, someone to make him feel loved. I'm not sure. He lied a little. To have fun I s'pose. To have as much fun as I can before I die. He lied again, with a grin on his face. He liked to have this facade, that he was just a fun loving, 'go with the flow' kind of guy. He just felt it was easier that way than to tell her about all his mushy feelings. At least it made his life easier.

Just fun? Kalika asked, wondering if there was perhaps something more to this happy-go-lucky boy and his naive facade. I don't have a problem with fun, but that can't be it, love. What are your passions? Now, instead of her head lying on his shoulder, she had moved in front of him so that her nose was pressed just under his chin, making her appear much smaller than she was. Of course, Kalika had nothing against fun (especially when it involved the consorts), but even she had bigger prospects than just sex and folly.

When I was a girl, the yearling began, I wanted to be a singer. I was sure that one day, I would sing for the masses of each pack until my name was known throughout the territories. She sighed and looked away from her lover and toward the sea before finishing her lament, But we all have to grow up and leave those childish dreams behind.

Kalika, unfortunately for Gabe seemed a little suspicious of his just fun notion and for a moment thought that she was going to ask him more about his past. Though she didn't, instead she was delving more into the boy's likes and dislikes, his passions as he stated it. He wasn't really settled on one particular thing, though he'd always been a decent hunter. That was hardly a passion but at least it was an answer. Well, other than sleeping, eating, and sex, I like hunting. Hunting's probably the trade that I'll pursue, love. He said, with a slight wink.

Kalika decided that she was going to share some of her passions, and Gabe was more than happy to listen. She spoke of wanting to be a singer, well known throughout the land, and the boy smiled. If we're talking about dreams we had as a kid, then I had loads of those. I once had this strange notion that I was gonna be the world's best dad, and that I was going to have a pack made up entirely of my thousands of kids. That was before of course I knew how to make kids, I just thought they'd pop out of the air when I asked for them. He said with a chuckle, remembering how young him was such a dumbo.

Children? Kalika asked, her curiousity peaking. She had never seen Gabe as the fatherly-type; he seemed much to naive for the tricks of youths, let alone the responsibilities of parenthood! I can't wait to have daughters of my own one day. I want to give them the life that I never had. Her own childhood was one which had been littered with betrayal and hardship. It was something she never wished for her daughters to experience, as it was her plan to raise them much better than she herself had been brought up.

Kalika seemed rather surprised by Gabe's desire to be a father. He didn't blame her, he didn't even consider himself the father type. But it was something he'd wanted as a child, and at the back of his mind he still wanted today. He chuckled, his white plume of a tail started to sway behind him. Yup, loads of 'em. He said in response to her shocked question. She moved on from the subject of him, and started talking about how she wanted daughters of her own someday. Daughters but no sons.

He knew it was just the way she was raised, to not want men, but he was curious as to what she'd do if she had a son. Nevertheless, he knew exactly what she meant by wanting to give her kids a better life than hers. God he hoped he could give that to his own someday, he wouldn't wish his life on anyone let alone his children. Exactly, you said it perfectly. I want my kids to be happier than I was. I want everything to be good for them. He said with a nod and smile of agreement.

He couldn't hold in his next question, though he wasn't sure how she'd react. What if you had all sons? What would you do? He asked, his head cocked slightly to the side.

Kalika's smile quickly fell to a stern look as Gabe asked his question. It was fair, albeit a bit uncomfortable for conversation. It's not about what I would do, she began with a low voice as she looked out over the horizon, Sons don't make it very often, and if they do then its at the lowest of ranks. And by the lowest of ranks the young siren meant a consort. It was a life that she didn't want for her children. In fact, it was such a despised concept that she would have killed her sons herself if it meant saving them from such a lifestyle.

I'm not feeling very well, Kalika fibbed with a heavy heart, Will you leave me so that I can rest?

Gabe could tell that Kalika didn't want to answer his question, but he genuinely wanted to know the answer. He still didn't understand what the sisters had against men, and he thought the whole mother sea thing was a load of bologna though he kept it all to himself. Her explanation was less than satisfactory. What did she mean by didn't make it? Did they kill them, eat them, or leave them out to die? He didn't know so much, and he didn't like not knowing. Though he found the more that he knew, the less he wanted to be here.

Kalika suddenly stated that she didn't feel very well, which the arctic wolf guessed was a quick line to get out of the conversation. He gave her a skeptical look, then sighed. He reached forwards to lick her chin then stood and stepped back. If you get to feeling better, I'll be here. I'm not trying to make you angry or uncomfortable, I'm your friend remember? He said, hoping she understood. Hoping that she remembered that he wasn't just a consort. To her he was supposed to be a lover, a friend. If he wasn't that to her, he was nothing, and he wouldn't stay if he were nothing.

Then he turned, disappearing behind the rocks as he headed back towards the forest of the island.
