@Vaati maybe? AW though.
She was yet to discover it was Potema's own brother that had impregnated her, but the commotion about her supposed pregnancy had not gone unheard. Koume, although silently and without many details, had told her - it seemed she really respected the structure and order that ranks provided. Perhaps the little minx was even planning to rise to power by getting on Nyx's good side, but that was yet to be proven. It did not matter much either; soon, everything would turn back to normal... or so she believed.
She wandered through the woods after having done her patrol and bringing the lonesome, fat squirrel she had caught to one of the caches. It was not much, she realized, but she'd never been a great hunter. She was an assassin, not a chase-and-catch bimbo that found the thrill in killing the complete innocent to be enjoyable.

It didn't work. Her belly continued to swell and she felt her teats fill. The familiar fatigue of pregnancy overtook her with even more feriocity than before. It was her curse, she knew. A curse for continuing her family's misdeeds. And she had to bear it, and bear these children. She had seen them in her Sights; tormenting her dreams. They were dark and twisted, malformed physically and mentally. She shuddered at the thought of having to see them come from her womb.
As she did last year, she walked through the woods in an attempt to relieve herself of the pain in her joints and sides. It was in the Woods that she saw her Dark Master and that her belly growled at the sight of the squirrel in her maw. It was with an exhausted desperation that she spoke up:

The ghostly coloration of their Listener was hard not to spot in the darkness of the woods, and Nyx turned to her even before the squirrel was asked for. Speckled brows raised with both a form of empathy and something she would describe as longing. She herself could not wait to bear a new generation for their woods, yet Potema seemed... exhausted and sad. She should be overjoyed, should she not? Nyx pressed the squirrel on the ground, nosing it towards the woman with a muffled;
Of course.It was glad to see her efforts not go to waste too.
Her brows knitted together when she raised her head again, arranging the stars on her forehead again. Usually, she'd never ask this kind of question to a fellow member, but she could not help a soft, excusable;
How are you fairing?to sspill from her lips.

At any other time, her request would have been met with annoyance and scorn, but her pregnant status, no matter how obtained, granted her some power over food. They were monstrous bastards, yes, but to everyone else in the pack they were the future of the pack.
She tore into the rodent hungrily as soon as it was near her grasp. Her belly growled in contentment, but she was disgusted at the thought of the nutrients she was putting in her body was now going to the dyni she carried. She was gulping down another strip of meat when Astrid spoke to her. She swallowed it, licked her chops, and said bluntly to her —

Horribly,— before returning to eat.

Though not good with the stuff herself, she knew Potema and her brother were both into herbs (albeit one being more into the torturous side of things). She tipped her head to the side, a bit shocked from the answer she was given. Was it really that bad to be pregnant? Had Nemesis gone through this just to have her as well? How absurd - of course she had not expected a girl, nor one so powerful she could claim the Forest King and then the whole forest.
Have you tried any medicinal herbs?She questioned carefully.

The squirrel was gone into the bottomless pit that was her stomach. Only bones were any sign of a squirrel once being there with pieces of cartilage and harder bits remaining. She kicked her chops, looking up at Nyx. Her head shook in response to her question.
In this instance herbs did not help,It was as if the abortive herbs only accelerated their growth. She had no explanation for why they continued to live. She merely carried them as a burden of Mephala's will, unsure if she could do anything else to stop their birth without risking Mephala's wrath.

The answer that was given was an unusual one. As far as Nyx knew, herbs did what they were known for and rarely had an off day. Perhaps she had taken the wrong ones by accident? Then again, Potema seemed to know her herbs very well.
How do you mean?She dared to ask, not sure if she was being bothersome.

Potema sifted through the bones, turning her mind towards the magical realm rather than the reality that oppressed her daily. She wished that Nyx would simply drop the conversation and get the hint — she did not want to speak about this. But another question came, and Potema was forced to turn her gaze towards the Dark Master once more.
I don't want them,The words came unbiddened, hissed like a curse. Her eye flashed with a brief spark, nearly igniting a fire of rage that might have slipped into a rant had she not controlled herself. She bit her lip, grabbed a few random bones and muttered —
I have to go,— before turning and leaving abruptly.

Didn't want them? How absurd! She was to spawn a whole new generation of Meloniis and she wasn't even excited to have them? It was obvious the two had not much in common, but it still saddened Nyx that Potema wanted to leave their coversation. She was the closest thing Nyx had to a mother figure now, but she nodded, buried the left-over bones and went back to her duties.
