A few days have passed since he had picked up the boy from the misty woods. He wasn't a talkative fellow, which wasn't terrible, Abaddon wasn't much of a talker either if he was absolutely honest. He could when necessary depending on the company, but for the most part, a life of solitude had left him comfortable in silence. Admittingly sometimes lonely, but nothing he couldn't handle.

As they wandered closer and closer to the beaches, the vamp decided to stop here for a little while and see if he could show little Death something interesting. Maybe get him to talk a little more and get to know his companion. Certain that the boy had never seen the ocean before, or smelled its salty tang in the air - but how about this? Have you seen lightning bugs yet? Without turning his head to look at the boy, Abaddon listened instead for a response.

He was aware that some wolves claimed dominance in these parts, but with a child at his side, certainly, they would take it easy on the lone pair as one was a young boy? Should one of them appear, it would be an interesting social experiment.

Death, or Almight as he had now named himself, followed his big brother out into the world he had only caught glimpses of. He liked being with him; he didn't coax him to talk, or try and teach him valuable life lessons. He was just there, a looming presence that was on his side, probably ready to protect him... or so he hoped. The boy felt no guilt in leaving 'home' - his siblings and mother had done the same. He felt like his endurance and loyalty were at a praiseworthy point for sticking around for so long, waiting for them to return.

The night was colder than the day, but that didn't stop the two brothers apparently. The menace looked up when a question filled the air of silence that had settled over them, pretty much from the moment they had left the Nightwalkers. I've seen lightning and bugs - you're saying there's a combination? He asked, brow raised in question. The thought terrified him - he wasn't very keen on bugs after having tasted a dragonfly, but lightning... now that shit was scary.

Yes. He cooed at the innocent question. Their stride was slower but not stopped, ringed eyes searched the darkness around them, the night was clear and beautiful, perfect to spot the little insects he wished to show the boy. A moment of wonder perhaps. Of discovery that he seemed to be starved for. Little insects that flicker in the night like lightning strikes. Even he had to admit it was quite the sight to see, but to the boy, would it be any different?

Unlike the sky display, these don't hurt. You can touch them if you can find them. He half mused with the idea of lying to the boy like he did with the beach boy about sex, to tell him how they could light a whole forest on fire if they felt threatened. How amusing would that be? Instead, he chose the truth. Should they be traveling together, a frightened boy of fireflies would be more of an annoyance in the long run than it was worth a quick laugh.

The trick was finding one of those things, they seemed to be everywhere once you find where they hung out for the night, maybe they weren't deep enough into the glen for them to be as numerous as he remembered. Unless he was mistaken on the location, they should be able to spot a couple of them floating around soon...
