Prompt: A landslide event happens as your character is actively hunting.
Already, Autumn’s chill was in the morning air. Each day grew colder and colder and some of the leaves had already started to turn orange and red. Granite explored and observed nature’s changes. As a young pup, he was filled with curiosity.
That day, he had managed to somehow walk straight out of Thunderdome into one of the neighboring territories. He chased after an exceptionally fast cricket towards the exposed Southern ridge.
“Get back here!” he yelled after the little bug.

Each time Granite got within a foot of the cricket it hopped even further away! Unaware his shadow spooked the bug, the young boy tried and tried again. However, with each attempt, he was led further away from Thunderdome’s heart.
He did not notice that the terrain changed from compact earth to eroded stone… or that the forest thinned and left him exposed. All Granite would remember was the earth suddenly pulled out from his feet and he began to tumble down in a great cloud of rock and dust.

When Granite came to it was night time. A waning gibbous moon illuminated the quarry at the bottom of the ridge where a pile of shale half-buried the young pup. He coughed, disoriented, and then groaned. Thankfully, young kids were made to be indescribable. He would wiggle his toes... move his legs... and slowly, but surely, the boy pulled himself from the debris.
He looked up at the cliffside from where had had fallen. To him, it appeared like a skyscraper - so tall that you couldn't even see the top. Granite's ears cupped his head as his tail tucked beneath him. He was alone. And afraid.

For several hours Granite tried to scale the impossible. Finally, he was too exhausted to climb anymore. He hid beneath a flat rock waiting, hoping, that someone would come by… but as the minutes tick-tocked he became more and more afraid.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to stay put… however, the pup decided to take action and find a different route back home, unaware he was headed in the wrong direction.
