All Welcome

Hunting in the winter was no easy task. The land was often far less rich in prey, and if the snow was deep it was much harder to navigate.

On the positive side, the ungulates were growing weak. It was far easier to take one down should she be able to find one. Tonight, she found herself on the trail of a boar.

Wild pigs were always a good meal; fat with meat too good to waste even an inch of. Her tail waved as she thought of something so delectable.

Her father had told her to make herself useful. To not only stick to the talents and skills she knew. She was a member of something more and as such. Ahe should do the next right thing.

She was torn from her thoughts as she meandering by the sight of a gold she wolf. Colored in Lillie's and cotton with a serious expression on her face. Kinusi scented the boar, but had ignored it. But this wolf could probably use some help. So she trotted quietly and lowly over. Whispering.

Need help?

Her father had told her once of hinting pigs. Stay downwind he said and run fast. Stay away from tusks and hooves.

A stranger approached offering to help. She was young; it made Eydis skeptical. You can hunt boars? She asked with a raised brow.

She could teach, yes, but if that was the case she would need to adjust her approach to the girl's skillset.

Kinusi lifted her head at the perusal. Though she did shake it.

Never hunted em. But my dad did. He said run fast, stay downwind, do it in pairs or a group and stay away from hooves and tusks.

Kinusi was many things, but above all else she was a quick learner. And she knew it.I'm a quick learner. That I can promise.

Eydis hadn't taught before, but it was never wrong to try. She was a skilled hunter, so surely the girl could learn something from her.

Ambushing was her usual strategy, but working with someone who had never hunted boars.. it would be best to tire it out first, avoid any accidents.

Then you will learn. Nudging the girl's shoulder, she began to move forward. What is your name?

Kinusi was an eager learner and quick too. Or at least thus far. She had learned everything her father had tried to teach. But perhaps this was different, but she was willing to try. That was all she could do after all. Was always try.

I'm Kinusi. But if it's easier you can call me Kini. She knew her name was a mouthful. She still wasn't entirely sure where her mother had gotten it. But it was hers and that was enough.

And yours?

Nose to the ground momentarily, she began to move forward before responding. Eydis. A single bluebell eye looked back to the girl now. You prefer a nickname? She asked, referring to the pair of name's Kinusi had offered her.

The boar was far enough that they should have time to chat, and Eydis thought it good to take the time to get to know the other.

She wondered just how young she may be, how far she had travelled before reaching Forneskja. For the time being her questions were silenced.

Eydis. She repeated it back. Being sure she jad the name right. The pronunciation and inflection. It didn't make you feel great to have your name butchered.

Kinusi chuckled and shook her head. I don't mind it either way. I have just found some have difficulty with my name so a nickname is given in case.

Sometimes Kinusi forgot her age. She had only be alive for 6 months almost 7. And to her that was fine. But many saw this as to youthful and inexperienced in life. And she supposed she could understand this

Eydis raised an eyebrow, though her expression returned to it's permanently neutral state. It is your name, I will learn to pronounce it. She spoke, tone firm in her decision. Where did you come from? Far?

Her tone was direct, but her intention was friendly. She truly did intend to get to know her packmates.

Kinusi chuckled and nodded her head. Okay then. Kinusi it is. She followed behind, making sure to mirror her steps like the she wolf in front of her. She may not be a great hunter, but she could learn if this one could teach.

Kinusi blinked. I was born on the spear. It is not far. Just above the mountains, above the forest. I can look down and see it's trees. Sialuk the leader there is the sister of Callyope. But I came here, because i like the stories the forest whispers about.

Listening to the girl, a smile settled on her face after a moment. The forest whispers to you? She looks to her now. Tell me of these whispers. Eydis too has heard them.

A common ground - something to share. Her posture relaxes as she listens.

A nod as she moved to follow behind teh she wolf. yea it does. It has since i first came to it. I wasn't even part of the pack yet.

She tilted an ear forward. oh it whispers of heartache and loss. But there is also hope in it's boughs and deep history. I feel like if you just scratch the surface a little so much will unfold.

She gave a soft laugh. I know that probably seems weird to say.
