After hearing Haedwig's call, it hadn't taken much consideration before Europia went searching. It brought her to the north end of a mountain, something that she had to question given the age of the old bat.

Pushing out a breath and shoving her hesitation away, she let up two howls; first for her prophet, then for the inhabitants of the territory which she stood at the border of. She couldn't really know if Haedwig was here or not until she asked.

Europia's heart ached, and it was impossible to maintain her usual bounce. Despite everything, she missed the woman who had helped to raise her.

Kini made it to the borders with her usual sway. The hum of a song on her lips. The scent of herbs and dirt and her own unique scent all mixed in.

She was tiny where Kini was not. Dark and small woth deep blue eyes. Kinusi wondered if she was the best greeter. After all she was brash and loud. She pasted a smile to her face and spoke. As always her voice lyrical.

Hi there. I'm Kinusi, but most call me Kini. What brings you to dawnspear.

On any other day, she would have totally clicked with the girl in front of her. Today however, all Europia could manage was a smile. She was tired, hungry, and she wanted to see Haedwig's familiar face.

I'm looking for someone, Haedwig. Do you know her? She asked. I heard a howl from her over this way, but I couldn't really pinpoint it.. She hadn't been very close, and failed to respond quickly. For all she knew, Haedwig may have only been passing through the area.

Sorry, I know I'm testing my luck here.

Kinusi frowned in thought. This wolf hadn't even introduced herself. Just immediately asked for another and wanted in their borders. Kinusi didn't like that. It made her slightly irritated. and She thought of Mist all over again. Had this been then, or even a few days prior. She'd have answered with her usually dose of sass. Told the girl she was being a little bit rude and names should be shared. But she knew she couldn't do that exactly.

So she swallowed her sass, she did lift her head boldly though. And spoke her sing song voice ringing out loud and true as it always did.

I apologize, but I don't think I caught your name? She waited patiently for the other woman to hopefully catch the hint.

We may have a wolf here by that name, but I am uncertain. We have had an influx of wolves and I haven't met them all yet. I will escort you into the borders to check.

Had she forgotten to say her own name? Sorry, it's the nerves. My name is Europia. She offered with a giggle. It had been an honest mistake.

You don't need to bring me into your borders, not if you aren't sure. I don't want it to feel like I'm just invading your space. Her older brother used to rip into anyone who got close, and escorts were always extremely uncomfortable. Is there someone you could call who might have met her?

She realized that she could have howled, but after that first one Europia wasn't quite feeling up to it. Pushing out a breath, she felt that it had suddenly gotten very hot. Wary eyes watched Kinusi, mouth opening to apologise for her change in demeanour, but the next second -

Flomp.

Europia was out cold.

This will be the last from her here! Feel free to skip over me if you keep going

It was just as the stranger went flomp that Kindle arrived, quickening his pace when he saw someone on the ground. Alarm bells rang in his head as he crowded in, worried that Kinusi would touch the stranger before —

But he caught her scent as he neared, and detected no hint of the ravening madness in it.

"What'd you do to her?" he asked, turning to Kinusi in wonder. He doubted she'd done anything at all, and rather, that the young woman was ill with something else. He could not help teasing, though. "What should we do with her?" he asked.

Kinusi tried to move forward when the girl showed signs. But she didnt make it in time. But before she could get closer Kindle was there. And her ire rose.

She was a healer. And he got between her and a patient. And his next words and she stared at him. Irritation and hurt and a small dose of anger warring in her eyes. That was not a nice thing to say.

I beg your pardon. I'm a healer not a saboter!

she felt the ruff along her neck rise. His teasing words after eased some of the tension but not all.

She stared at him. We carry her. I'd say based on the way her ribs poke out and the circles under her eyes. She hasn't eaten in a little bit.

She bent forward. Gently sniffing the girls scruff.

We'll need some fresh prey animals. She can't chew in this way. So first we try and wake her. There's herbs you can use with strong smell. That doesn't work. We have to squeeze prey juice in her mouth or feed her like a puppy until she regains enough strength to wake and eat.

i assume if she hasn't eaten there are noticeable signs. Let me know if this is too much pp.

Kindle backed down, broadcasting his submission through body language. He hadn't meant to hurt her feelings, but it seemed that he had, and he had no desire to double down. Instead, he listened to her verdict, gazing dubiously at the young woman. Doubtlessly, Katmai would feel similarly compelled to care for her — so he didn't bother arguing that they didn't know her or owe her anything, or that she could be carrying all sorts of parasites or diseases.

"Alright — help me get her on my back?" he requested, crouching low to start the process. He figured he'd better just keep Kinusi from getting infected with anything, even if she was the healer here, and bound to be interacting with the sick shewolf anyway.

Once that was over and done with, Kindle stood uncomfortably under the weight of the too-light female.

"Where to?" he asked her, shifting carefully to test how stable his hold was. And, "Did she say anything useful before... Y'know."

The songbird stared at him as he submitted a bit. It didn't ease much of the tension in her shoulders, but it helped some. Though it was unfair to lay all the tensity at his singular paws. She was tense because a girl just fainted in front of her, and she had been unable to save her from falling forward. She hoped she hadn't hurt her head or jaw.

Kinusi moved to help him lift her to his broad shoulders. She did offer him a not so gentle tug to his ear letting him know. She wasn't too upset with him, but he still had to completely earn her forgiveness.

Only that her name is Europia and she is looking for someone named haewig. We will take her to the healing ulaq near dad. He can help me. She is going to need quite a bit of care at least today. I have to check my stores. I wonder what the best herb to wake her up would be. I may ahve some lemon grass. If that doesn't work. Well, she will need fed and water. I will need to soak some skins.

She was speaking at Kindle, but not to him. her mind racing with all she needed to do.

"Easy!" Kindle huffed when his ear was pulled, but he offered no retaliation, taking it all in stride aside from the automatic verbal complaint. He shuffled along with the young leader as she directed them, comfortable in his role as beast of burden.

"Well, we got a Haedwig here," he replied, wondering to himself what the girl could want with their old woman. But that was hardly the most pressing thing — at least according to Kinusi, he thought.

"I can help fetch and chew some meat once we get her settled," he said, "But me or your dad oughta stay with you while you tend her. Sometimes wolves wake up fightin', y'know?"

He thought of something, then.

"Might oughta fetch Haedwig, too. Maybe she can tell us if lil Europia's the right sort to keep around here."

He'd been more open out on his own. Now that they had a pack — a village, as Katmai and the rest seemed to say — and a territory, Kindle was more defensive.

Kinusi met his gaze then. Shouldn't speak so candidly if you don't like the consequences Kindle. She drew out his name. Her usual humor lacing her words, but there was still reproach in her gaze. She was not a beast that liked to belittle suffering. Despite that she was wild and loud and a bit frenetic. She was also caring and kind underneath the snark and bluster.

Kini snorted. I've healed men twice your size Kindle who could have crushed me with their jaws and paws. Trust me this little bitty girl doesn't scare me none. But if it makes you feel all gentleman like by all means. Help the delicate healer take care of a so obvious keyed up wolf. She huffed.

Kini spoke softly. I don't know Haedwig. But if you do I'm okay with calling her. As long as she doesnt' get in my way when I'm healing.

"I'll try and mind myself next time some half-starved stranger scares me half outta my skin," he replied, good-natured under the reproval. Lesson learned, in truth — he would mind himself better around Kinusi, who clearly took her role as healer quite seriously. That was what a pack wanted in a healer, he supposed.

He was quiet too through her tirade, amused but a little nervous, too. He wasn't too worried about Kinusi losing a fight with the wisp, but he still worried she was carrying something that might easily be passed on through a bite. He held his tongue, though, and ducked his head again in acceptance.

"She's a healer, too," he replied. "Old and mean, too. But I'll keep her outta your way if I have to. I think it's worth getting her opinion on this girl. We don't know what she wants with Haedwig, after all."

He could well imagine this being some sort of revenge mission. Perhaps the old witch had put a withering curse on the girl.

Kinusi didn't mind joking and joshing. And she even did so when healing, if the thing she was healing wasn't so bad. She thought of SOlharr then and Luhtar. But this girl, she could die. She could die. And it made her cold all over.

A sharp laugh. Old and mean i can deal with. You just have to be meaner usually. Them ones they are ornery. Got away with too much and now think they own the world. They just need put in their place a time or two is all. We can get her opinion, see what she wants. But i'm still gonna keep her from dying.

Kindle had to admire the younger wolf. He wouldn't be caught dead trying to put Haedwig in her place, lest she put some kind of spell on him — but Kinusi was a woman, even if she was a young one. She had magic of her own.

"Yes ma'am," he agreed, likewise sobered by the possibility that Europia might die. He wouldn't mourn her, but he wasn't heartless, either. More than his worry for her, however, he knew his mission now was to keep the wisp from breaking his lady-chief's heart.

They got the girl up to the healing den, or ulaq, he supposed. She was shifted carefully off of his back before he howled for @Haedwig.

"I ought to go meet her," he said. "She don't get around too well."

But if Alaric hadn't shown up already, he still waited (contritely, embarrassed by his inescapable urge to do so) until the man arrived before excusing himself to go and collect the old woman. He took orders for anything else that needed fetching, too.

Haedwig's arrival was shockingly swift, as in under ten minutes. She had heard Europia howl when she arrived, but ignored it in the moment. A howl from the healer's den told her that may not have been the correct decision.

The feeling that sparked in her chest upon seeing the once plump and healthy princess could be described in four words; 'that's my fucking baby.' She had raised that girl, and Haedwig would throw herself off the mountain top before seeing her die.

She didn't speak to anyone, rushing forward to crouch next to Europia and check her over for wounds. The look in her eyes screamed of the sort of maternal affection that, despite claiming to others on the mount that she had sworn it off, was burning strong. Haedwig took her work seriously, both as a healer and as the prophet of the Corax. She had promised to care for Selenia's children in new lands; just because the kingdom had collapsed didn't mean she was absolved of that responsibility.

Safe to say that she was ready to tear pelts if she was interrupted.

Kinusi was working on Europia. She already had a plan in place, and was already starting to work on getting the herbs to try and wake her when another was uponl her and suddenly Kinsui was in front with her hackles raised and a growl in her throat.

She knew who this wolf was and normally under most cases she'd have tried to be kind. But to get alll b ut pushed out of the way when she was healing. It irked her to no end. Her father was there in the background offering his advice and helping her. The situation was well in hand.

She was in haedwigs face in a minute. Absolutely willing to fight if she had to. And flex her leadership capabilities.

What the hell do you think you're doing, Haedwig. Please get away from my patient. I already have a plan and my dad's help. And frankly I don't know you or her, enough. Back the hell off.

Kini doesn't like being essentially pushed to the side and given that she doesn't know either wolf. She is a bit irritable about it. So apologies and please know that Ic does not mean OOC. :) <3

Kindle waited against the wall of the den for Alaric to arrive, trying his best to keep out of the way. He moved to the entrance, though, when he heard pawsteps fast approaching, and then failed to intercept Haedwig when she dodged around him with swiftness that belied her age.

He hadn't really had time to be surprised that Kinusi didn't know Haedwig. It was at the forefront of his mind now, however, as an altercation immediately took place. He recognized the look in Kinusi's eyes — but he recognized it in Haedwig's too. This was a child of the aging woman — something Kindle realized only now that he hadn't thought she might have. It killed him just a little to "have to" jump in and try to shepherd Haedwig backwards — but in the clash between age and rank, rank currently won.

"Give her some space," Kindle said, his voice forceful, but cajoling, too. "You know this wolf?" he asked her, though he was not sure he'd get an answer. He wanted to try and distract her with words before using real force — but he was sure that the last thing they all wanted or needed was for a fight to start over Europia's limp little body.

Better to take it outside himself.

Haedwig wasn't phased by Kinusi in the least, she didn't so much as raise a hackle until Kindle tried to push her away. She's my goddaughter.

Exactly, you don't know her. I've been taking care of her since she was rolling around her mother's womb, I know her entire medical history. She shot a glare at Kinusi. Chief or not, she didn't appreciate her trying to act morally superior by snapping before asking any questions. If someone is going to care for her, it's me. Her life doesn't get to be a lesson for you.

They had brought her here to be a healer. Now one of Haedwig's own needed help; they were going to let her do her job. It was her fault that Europia was here, anyways.

The mix of nerves and hunger clearly hadn't been the best. Europia's eyes fluttered open, thinking that she should have risked that funky carcass before coming to the mountain.

When she came to, the first thing she heard was arguing. It all sort of meshed together in her temporarily dazed state, but Haedwig's familiar voice stood out. If she wasn't so confused she probably would have shot up already - angry Haedwig was always something to look out for. Fun to watch, but if you were the target.. well, she had earned her nickname for a reason.

In this case however, Europia felt sure that she wasn't the source of the witch's anger.

Kinusi Growled and her hackles rose even higher. I would never use anyone's life like a lesson. if you knew anything about me you'd know that. I have been healing since I was old enough too and I know already what is wrong with her. And I am monitoring for things you aren't aware of. And you don't get to give me orders Haedwig. You don't. Back off or I will have my dad and Kindle forcibly take you out of this den. I've already put mint near her to try and wake her up. Then she needs a warm meal, she's starving. When I am certain she is out of immediate danger, you can tend her. But for now back off

Her eyes flashed and her teeth flashed, but her attention was taken when Europa woke up. She gave Haedwig one more warning growl, and one more verbal warning I'm serious Haedwig.

before she turned to Europa. Lowering her voice completely.

Hello There Europa. Sorry you had to wake up to such angry voices. You fell there at the edge. I got you some mint to wake up and Kindle here, was gonna get you something to eat. Something small, and something to drink. You can't eat a lot or a drink a lot to start. I also have to ask if you're feeling any discomfort or pain near your head or maw? You hit pretty hard. Also side note that mint there. Dont eat it. Not good on an empty stomach, just in case you didn't know.

She trusted that were Haedwig to try anything. Her dad would step in as would Kindle. Frankly she didn't care what Haedwig felt or why. And actually it made it worse that this was her goddaughter because high emotions caused panic and when it was someone you really cared about you got irrational.

Not to mention Kinusi had already determined what was wrong, was already monitoring for head wounds. Something Haedwing didnt know because she wasnt there. She wasnt about to let the care of the girl to someone else right this second, when not all the facts were known. When she was certain Europa wouldn't die or had a serious head wound. She had no problem stepping aside if that is what was wanted.

Kinusi didn't know either of them. Which she would fix eventually.  But she did know who she was and what she could do and it rankled that Haedwig thought she could come in here and throw her weight around because she was older and knew the girl. That didn't fly.

Kindle's hackles rose in response to all the arguing. He cut a glance at Alaric to see if the other man would do anything, and then another at the waking Europia. It was frustrating to him to see tempers sparking so quickly amongst his packmates, and while part of him was quick to blame Haedwig, the lower ranking wolf who had already proved herself ornery...

He just thought it'd been quite a tirade. And that Haedwig was clearly distraught, her emotions high from worrying for her young family member. Kindle knew the lengths he would have gone to to reach one of his younger brothers, had they been injured and at risk, and so Haedwig's behavior — while not entirely excusable — seemed understandable in his eyes.

Warier now of Kinusi's temper, he shrank into the background until needed.

Europia got herself to her paws, listening in on what was happening. As far as she was aware, Kinusi was insulting the wolf who was essentially her mother. ..I don't need treatment.. and that isn't my name. She was nit-picking a small mistake, but it was hard not to be offended here.

I haven't ate in a couple days, but if I fainted it was because of the stress. She had done it to herself. Europia felt fine, at the very least. Her daze was already wearing off. I appreciate it and all, but I really only want family to treat me if someone has to anyways. That's how it's always been.

Eyeing Haedwig, she was fast to slip through and nudge the older woman towards the exit. I only came here to talk to her. If I'm why you're yelling at Haedwig I'll get out of your fur, but it's too cramped in here for me to talk to anyone at all. She was doing her best to keep a level head, just like Thalassa had taught her. We're going to talk outside, and then I'll leave. You'll be able to see me just fine from here.

Giving Haedwig another, harsher nudge, both slipped out of the den. As promised neither went out of sight.

Haedwig and Europia are both going to exit the thread now. Sorry if it's a bit abrupt

Kinusi said nothing amd watched them go. She looked to Kindle and her dad and shook her head. Had this devolved, absolutely. But she felt justified. It had been her patient she knew what had happened.

Well that was lovely. Kindle please escort Europia to the borders when she's done if she wants to leave. If she wants to stay she has to ask, she has to ask me,  not you or Katmai in this case.. And tell Haedwig I'd like to talk to her at a later time.

She turned towards the den mouth and began her descent up the mountain. She had some stuff to think about. Her knee jerk reaction was to toss both out on their asses. But that wasn't fair.

Kindle stole one last glance at Alaric before he followed the young chief, stopping a distance away so that he would not face her teeth if it came to it.

"She was afraid for her child, Kinusi," he called to her, his voice soft so as not to carry. "And then they were both afraid."

He could well imagine how disconcerting it would have been to wake up to that argument, surrounded by strangers.

Kindle took another step back.

"I'll do as you've said," he confirmed, moving then to follow in the path of the other two women. He'd said all he meant to to his leader, and the rest would have to be up to her.
