The wolf tore through the dense woodland in a flurry of fur and icy rain. She didn't look back — but she knew without a doubt that her companion would be at her back. No matter how far Shrike drifted, @Calfuray was always just around the bend; sometimes waiting, sometimes already ahead on the path.
She halted at the treeline, tail flagging at her back. With a few sharp, excited barks, Shrike announced herself to the vast grasslands beyond. There wasn't anyone there, she didn't think. But it hardly mattered.

Just as Shrike thought, Calfuray was not far behind. They were headed into lands familiar to her own half of this strange sisterhood, but Calfuray did not feel scared.
Leaving the Teekons had provided her with a true friend; one that did not need to share words, one that only needed silent glances to know that they had each other's backs. It was a rare alliance in wolves, but one Calfuray was grateful for - particularly now while she was swollen with heat.
Ambling ahead until she reached Shrike, she met her with a chuff and a nudge to her friend's muzzle. She was plenty excited too, but not so eager to announce it to potential strangers.
